Update 1-1-2025
I tried the dry aged Porterhouse steaks and it was NOT good at all. The butcher gave me poor quality cuts that had too many brown spots and tasted really bad. Go for the ribeye since I had no issues.
Went to the Grand Opening of Kasia Market today, a Korean Supermarket competing against H-Mart and Lotte (both located in Edison NJ). The checkout experience was somewhat rough as price check was an issue.
The meat prices were on the high side...except for their dry aged ribeye and porterhouse steaks (AVOID Porterhouse, those ain't good as taste is funky). The dry-age ribeye is a bargain!
They have everything that my Fil-Am self had dreamed for; from Maronggai to fresh Pandan leaves to banana flowers and everything in between (No Egg roll wrapper yet as of 12/28?). And my mom can happily drive there for groceries without taking the highway (we live in Hillsborough). Produce offerings were fantastic (be aware of price check at checkout).
Seafood offerings is as good as Lotte and H-Mart.
Haven't tried the restaurant yet because I savor the dry-agd ribeye so much 😊
Hope they get all the inventory pricing situated, because that is my primary concern...
Also went back 2nd time to get 2 x 2 inch thick dry aged porterhouse steaks. I'm not sure about quality, but it may be Choice grade....and I regretted buying those, putting in the freezer and cooking on...
Read moreOutstanding Asian supermarket that covers all the bases for non Asian food as well. Sparkling clean, fresh produce and all kinds of exotic fruits and veggies. There’s prepared food to take home, there’s a great restaurant on site, a Korean skincare store, and a wide range of kitchen tools and essentials. Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. Prices are excellent. They grow their own lettuces, shiso, and other greens hydroponically right on site. I have been shopping there since the day they opened and they continue to have new products all the time. Korean (everything!) Japanese (nice miso and natto selections, plus more), Chinese (frozen bao, chili crisp varieties, etc), Thai (curry pastes, huge selection of coconut milk, etc), Vietnamese and southeast Asian (soup bases, noodles, sauces), Indian (dals, spices, etc) you get the idea. Great kimchi selection and if you like rice they have organic and conventional from Korea, Chinese, Thai and Indian varieties. All kinds of rice mixes and more. Dumplings of every variety. Obviously I highly recommend this store as a destination must visit for high quality food and a very fun shopping experience. Vegan alert: loads are of food for us...
Read moreSo excited for Kasia market to be open. It totally exceeded my expectations. I was really surprised at how large the market is and the produce, fish market and butcher shop were super impressive.
What makes this market different is the owner (Dennis) mission to keep his market zero organic waste and his goals for sustainability. The hydroponic garden is really cool and if you get a chance to learn more about how it works, it’s really interesting. The Montgomery News wrote an article about it and worth the read!
Now for selection, it has everything you can expect to find in an Asian grocery market. Nice selection of items catering to different ethic clientele. Halal meat, Phil-Am, Chinese etc..
The food court is worth the trip alone! I tried the Korean Fried Chicken and it’s hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. Perfectly seasoned and cooked and just the right amount of crispiness. You may want to order this first and then do your grocery shopping since it’s all fresh and made to order. The KimBap was also soooo good. I am excited to try to rest of the hot food bar.
Overall happy to have them in town and great addition to our...
