Seafood In The Buff — Local services in Montgomery Village

Prices are a little inflated but options are few in Germantown 😔. I visited today and was charged an extra.10 for every item purchased. The lady working the register was already having a hard time adding on it but, was got upset when I inquired about the extra. She acted confused or like there was a language barrier. When I showed her the prices and what I was being charged she got mad and said she has a line and that it was for "bags". The gentleman came over and stated that he would throw a few extra crabs in however, my understanding was that there is a .05 bag tax per BAG not ITEM. Then, I asked about the actual tax same language barrier. To keep things moving I accepted the "few extra" dried out crabs and explained that it isn't right to add on fees because you think people aren't paying attention and you can't use the machine. If that is done ALL DAY to EVERY CUSTOMER they're really getting over. My punishment was that I had to wait longer for my order and she began to argue with the gentleman for giving me extra and even smashed the bag but, I wanted crabs for Mothers Day so they got my $ today but, never again. I called in and asked if they had any X-large crabs for sale. Was told they didn't have XL's, but they did have large and regular, and price was quoted. Asked if I could order them on the phone and have them ready when I arrived. Was told that they had plenty of Large crabs and regular, just show up and they would be cooked quickly. I left immediately and arrived 31 minutes later. After the man in front of me finished complaining because he was told they had large crabs, and now only had regular crabs, I knew I had been lied to. The only crabs they had available were regular crabs and females. This is the second time I was told they had large crabs, only to have the smaller ones for sale. I would have purchased the smaller crabs if the owner told me what was available over the phone, but his goal is to get you there so you just buy. Edit: 2 years later 7/1/23 and I still love this place! Perfect place to get crabs for 4th of July. Or any occasion. Everyone working is so sweet! Fresh crabs and shrimp and omg have to try the corn (my parents love it)! And I compared the prices since 2 years ago and they have barely gone up. That’s crazy! Support local business!
