The atmosphere of the salon is nice. All of the machinery and decor are up to date. The staff was kind and attentive overall. And the wait wasnât bad. Hence the two stars. My experience was tainted by the quality of work. Iâve been serviced by a local Black woman nail tech for the last year whose attention to detail is unmatched. In my 15 years of going to the salon, Iâve met no one who can match the quality of her work. That being said, I didnât have expert level expectations for Master Nails, though I did expect a professional job, at minimum. By the pictures you can see that this is a job I could have easily done at homeâŠwith better results. I am not the type of person who goes to these places to spend money and gloat that I went to the salon, I come because I expect a level of professional services beyond what I can achieve. The pedicure was the best part of the experience and it was barely decent. Feet werenât well exfoliated and my toe polish was quite sloppy.(It is also my opinion $15 extra for gel is a joke.) it was the manicure that really did it for me. The tech tried to convince me to get a gel polish. I chose to only go with a clear top coat because my nails are a bit damaged ands recovering from a year of gel manicures without a break. As a professional, understanding my long term goals to regrow healthy nails, she shouldnât have continued to recommend gel polish. I feel like that was about the money. I did expect for the tech to properly soak my nails, push back, clean, and moisturize my cuticles, shape and buff my nails, massage oil into my hands and apply a top coat. For a $20 manicure, I believe this is a basic expectation. When that did not happen, and I brought it to the techâs attention, she tried to convince me that it didnât look good because I didnât get gel polish, then it was because she needed to apply oil, then it was because I needed to was my hands. It was everything except that she did a poor job. I got the second opinion of another tech who agreed that the job wasnât well done and offered I pay half price. (I personally did not feel like she put in enough effort in to earn half price, but I had already decided that I wasnât coming back so I let it go). I also paid full price for the pedicure as I didnât see the sloppiness until I made it to the car. So all that being said to say, very disappointed that I spent $73 of my hard earned money and invaluable time in a place that values quantity (& money) over quality (& professionalism).
Update: The next day, about a1/3 of the polish on my big toe chipped off. I did go back for this. The gentleman who fixed it for me was very pleasant and took his time to do it right. I tipped him for his pleasant service. Still as far as going back for full...

I went in asking for only a brow tint. I was hesitant to get my brows waxed because nail salons notoriously double dip their wax sticks which goes against proper hygiene that theyâre taught in cosmetology school. I told the lady who would be doing my brows that I didnât want them waxed and Iâd pluck them myself once I got home and that I only wanted an eyebrow tint. I told her my concern about the double dipping and she reassured me several time they donât do that. This was as she was wiping my makeup to clean my brows before starting. I kept asking just to be sure I understood that they as a salon do not double dip their wax just in case of a language barrier. I could tell me asking was frustrating her because she began to wipe the makeup off more aggressively. She wiped so hard that my skin became sensitive and slightly sting. She blamed this on my makeup being hard to get off. I allowed her to wax since she reassured me. Once she went for the third application of wax I realized that she was indeed double dipping (I had my glasses off and the way she positioned herself the first two times I couldnât tell). I explained to her that was my whole point of asking, because that isnât sanitary and especially now given that she rubbed my skin so hard enough to break the first layer of skin. Long story short, I allowed her to finish since she was half done. Once she finished I showed her information online on why that isnât proper hygiene and to my surprise she âfinallyâ understood my concerns stating âyes I know exactly what youâre talking about. Youâll have to talk to my managerâ. Basically telling me they are aware of how unsanitary it is but continue to do so. Itâs disgusting, unacceptable and unfortunate that this salon operates this way because the work looks really nice. However health is more important but clearly not important enough for them to care. Itâs a simple fix of throwing out their current contaminated wax, starting fresh, and SIMPLY SCOOPING WAX INTO A SINGLE USE CUPâŠ.AND THEN YOU CAN DOUBLE DIP FREELY but only in the single use cup but that would require compassion for other people and a minor inconvenience of doing the...
Read moreToday, I visited to get services for my eyebrows, lashes, toes, and nails. Unfortunately, I only ended up receiving three of those services because of the poor customer service and the dirty tools they were using in the eyebrow area. I was directed to sit in seat 7 and asked for a natural look with black brows. The woman was quite rude, telling me to sit back. I complied but then asked if I could have them thinner as well. She walked away, grumbling, and went to the back. After sitting there for five minutes, I decided to stand up and leave. I was informed that this lady often gets frustrated and was told to sit in a different chair. All I wanted was a black tint. When I sat in the new chair, the next lady was even ruder, possibly reflecting the attitude of the previous one. I mentioned that I had just had a baby, and she snapped at me to stop talking! Then she went silent, laughing and speaking in another language. When she began using a dirty razor on my skin, I asked if we could use a new one. This seemed to upset her even more, and she went to the back to fetch a new one. After a two-minute wait, she returned. I found it strange that they didnât have clean razors at their station and was unsure how many people had used the one I saw. I requested a new one because I noticed some red substance on it, unsure if it was blood or red dye. As we continued, she paused for a moment, and I looked at my phone. I pointed to one eyebrow and gave her a thumbs up! She got annoyed and said she wasnât finished. One eyebrow was larger than the other, but I gave a thumbs up for the color regarding the black tint, and the eyebrows were looking nice! Then she asked if everyone was okay, and after her two rude comments, she said I was just sensitive. By that point, they were all rude and seemed to be having a bad day. This place used to be so warm and welcoming, but as business increased, the customer service declined significantly. I decided against getting my lashes done and went ahead with my nails and toes. The guy in the second-to-last booth saved the experience; he was nice, polite, and extremely friendly. He chose a color for me since Iâm easygoing, and he picked a...
