The unforgivable ignorance of the female clerk I just had an encounter with at 8pm on 5-22-2020 was an absolutely appalling. I am a hospital worker in downtown Minneapolis heading to my cabin on a brief holiday and stopped to pick up a couple items from the liquor store. I had meant to do this in Minneapolis, but had simply forgotten on the way. As a hospital employee I am VERY aware of the dangers our country is facing from the Covid-19 outbreak and therefore prepared with a mask and gloves before entering the store. Upon check out I was asked for my ID which I obliged willing as I can look young for a 31 year old. I was then told verbatim "you need to take the mask off in order for me to properly ID you". Normally I could understand this, however in our current outbreak situation I find absolutely ridiculous and dangerous to ask someone to do this. I could have verified my information on the ID or shown matching credit cards to prove my identity. When I said I was wearing the mask to simply protect her and the other patrons I was told by her (who wasn't even wearing the mask properly as it was on her chin and not covering her mouth or nose) "I'd rather not wear thing". I knew ignorance was prevalent this side of the Mississippi, but are almost 100k Americans dead not a good enough sign for you? I'm begging management to please enforce the wearing of masks to protect your town. It's honestly the most patriotic and SIMPLE thing you could do. I purchased my alcohol less than a block down the road and the clerk seemed to have no issue selling to me...
