Bob's Food City — Local services in Mount Ida

I just moved here not long ago. The first time I walked into Bob's I noticed a very bad smell. It smelled like spoiled meat. It still stinks. I am scared to buy from the meat market, not sure how old their meat is. The prices are probably 20% higher than stores in Glenwood and Hot Springs. Most of their cashiers are just kids, they don't pay attention to their job. They never smile at a customer nor do they care about anything. I have seen many of them laying over on the counter where they check customers out. Maybe they don't realize that it is their job to smile and speak to the customers as they check out. They need to stand up and stop laying all over everything. Dollar General is across the street and if you need something simple like coffee, you will save a dollar or more just going there. I only shop at Bob's when I have ran out of something. I do my major shopping in Hot Springs because the prices are half what you will pay at Bob's. They need some competition but they won't happen, like any small town the people with money run it. They won't let Walmart Market come in and that is what we need here. At least it would be clean and neat and the prices would be better. Bob's is a rip off. I can't recommend shopping...

Was at the lake today and decided to stop at this grocery store..so glad we did the people were so nice. My husband always goes for the meat dept to check out the steaks..he found t bone steaks that looked wonderful, they were thick and about half of what we pay here. While he was looking the butcher came out and told him they cut everything in house and was so helpful and nice we bought 4 of the steaks,then had to go across the street and get a cooler to bring them home but boy was it worth it.when we finally got home I cooked 1 of the steak One was big enough for 2 people) and it was so tender and juicy .we loved it....if you're around Mt Ida stop and get a steak or a few you will be so...

Update: After I contacted the store about what happened, the manager/owner Stormy called me back and apologized. She said it shouldn’t have happened and invited us to come back so they can make it right.

I’m not sure if a new policy will be put in place or the employee reprimanded/relieved of her position but I’m glad this issue can now be addressed company wide. ————————————————————— Their prices are a little high compared to Tulsa but was expected since they’re the only grocery store in a tourist town. Cilla was our cashier and she was extremely rude but the employees on the floor were very kind and asked if we needed help...
