Dollar General — Local services in Mount Joy

This dollar general had exactly what I was looking for. The Mrs may have known that when she sent me there to get some Christmas supplies for our house and she wasn't wrong (she's sharp that way). This isn't the first time I've had reason to go there and we now have a pretty good knack for what we might find. If you long for the DG experience, you should be prepared to find some food and drinks, household and seasonal, cosmetic and some clothing. In short, inexpensive stuff that should remain inexpensive. I regularly find our local DG to need some tidying up (one of the results of lower employee overhead that could be remedied if customers would respect themselves by putting things back nicely) but that doesn't keep me and the Mrs from going and purchasing the things we...

Could stock a bit better. Have towel and wash cloths in two separate areas. Noticed this with other items as well, such as solar lights. Solar lights stocked in different aisles that were 3 aisles apart. Freezer and storage bags also in several areas far apart within the store. Seems like a random hodge podge of stuff. Asked employee if the store accepted AMERICAN Express credit cards. She kept pointing me to a display of cell phone cards. She did not know what American Express was. Other employee stated "She's new." Store sells some foods, brand name and generic. Because we do not have a general merchandise store in Mount Joy, such as a Target or Walmart, some customers shop here by default. Not the biggest Dollar General store, but better...

I visit several of the Dollar General Stores in my area, and in Harrisburg, for things that I occasionally need to pick up. I appreciate that I can just run in and get something pay for it and leave without spending a lot of time. The cashiers have always been nice and very helpful.
