My father, Claude Alan Benevento, and I, Claude Richard Benevento, went to Weis Market Store #63 on 441 West Main Street in Mount Joy, PA on 6-13-15 at 1:30 PM. We walked back to the meat department and saw a pre-packaged container of chipped beef steak wrapped in cellophane. This steak was discolored with brown spots and heavily aged areas. The meat in the package was horrifying to another young lady who walked up beside us and was appalled by the scene of almost rotten meat sitting on top of the rest of the meat. This product did contain a $3.00 off sticker, which slashes the original $5.99 price in half. However, this does not provide an explanation for why aged, discolored, and nearly rotten meat is being presented to the public, who unlike my father and I, are not chefs and are uneducated to what bad meat looks like. This product was a public health and safety issue. We brought the product up to the front and asked that it be removed from the stock. The meat manager, a middle-aged lady with broken english, refused to consult with us on the issue. The assistant manager, Steve, came over and claimed that he would eat that product. The store was hesitant to give us contact information to corporate, and told us not to disturb the other customers. We were NOT disturbing the customers, however when other customers witness managers of Weis Market defending the decision of putting nearly rotten meat on the stock, it might put a bad taste in someone's mouth. It has been rumored that this issue is not an isolated situation. We ask that someone could please investigate the Mount Joy Weis meat management and ethics, including the actual product they are serving and the employee's representing this branch of Weis market in the meat department. We are reporting this to help the public stay safe and so that Weis can ensure "Quality Service...
Read moreThis store has become ridiculous, they revamped the interior which for the most part consisted of moving things from one side of the aisle to the other. They did however make big changes to the deli, big awful changes. Now you can't see the deli meats, you can't see the people that work in the deli, you can't see what's on sale, you're expected to buy precut meats and cheeses, and if ya want anything special you have to basically walk behind the counter and ask for help because they dont even have an ordering kiosk. This is a joke, who doesn't like to go to the deli and see the display and see what's on sale etc. I never have and never will buy precut deli meats. They also basically only have one register open so you basically have to do self checkout. When are they going to give discounts for self checkout considering you're doing the work? Tell you what, giant may be a few cents higher with some items and I usually go to weis because it's closer. Not anymore I won't. I'll drive right on past weis to go to giant. Whoever decided on these on these changes needs to realize in their attempt to keep up with the times they're ruining the shopping experience for their customers and everyone I have spoken with agrees with me....
Read moreWhy do they close the deli at 7:00 pm on a Friday night when people are still shopping and the store doesn’t close to 9:00 pm? Why on a Friday and Saturday do they one have 1 cashier on? Not everyone does the self service cash out. No one wants to spend 2 hours at a grocery store on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon and your spending more time in line waiting to cash out. I have been going to this Weis for years and it is only getting worst. I actually left the store and went down to Stauffer’s and finished my shopping. Maybe I should just go there from the beginning. When you store loosing customer like me and a lot of them, they close your branch of Weis. Something to...
