I was looking for a Dump trailer for the farm for hauling grain, firewood, and getting gravel. I settled on the 48'' side 16ft dump trailer based on the large volume the trailer appeared to be able to hold. I thought the higher sides would also be useful for transporting square bails of hay and straw. I have to say overall the trailer has been useful, however extremely limited by the axles and tire set up. While the trailer has a massive volume capacity the design falls massively short with the weight holding capacity to match the large volume it can hold. When hauling soybeans or corn, I can't even load the trailer to half of its volume before hitting the weight limit. Mulch can be about 2/3 of the volume before the weight is maxed out. Stone/dirt/asphalt millings only 1/6 the volume. Bottom line is the high sides are not very useful due to the weight limitations. While the trailer has worked for me, I am overall disappointed now owning it for a year and being shocked by its limitations. I feel that this trailer was poorly designed by having such a large volume without the weight capacity to support it. I probably wouldn't have purchased the high side version if I would have known...
