Posting for one of Gary's clients: I recently did a shut down & update procedure on my laptop. The next time I went to open it, I had an error message that wouldn't allow me to open it. It gave me several options, none of which worked. My daughter in law helped me troubleshoot and also ran into all the same deadends. So I asked her who she recommended for repair service. She gave me the number for Mt Pleasant Computer Repair. I called the number and left a message for Gary Lane. When he called me back the next day, my first question for him was why didn't his website give a physical address. He said that he had no "storefront" because he has a fulltime job and does computer repair on the side from his home. He's located on campus and customers can drop off and pick up their computers at times that accomodate his work hours. My daughter in law was pretty sure he was the same guy who had worked on her daughter's computer a few years back and that they were very satisfied with his work and pricing. I dropped off my computer with him on a Thursday and got it back the following Monday after he'd replaced my hard drive. He'd also upgraded me to Windows 11 and saved all my files with the exception of one picture folder that I can retrieve from elsewhere and one document file, the loss of which was not a problem. His charge was completely reasonable. He is polite and easy to work with. I highly recommend Gary if you need computer...
Read moreGary was very nice, cordial and flexible! I offered him a few problems I was having with my laptop and he asked relevant questions and for photos of the issues, which I had available. The repair took three days and he didn't find anything. When he gave my laptop back to me, he offered a discount if we needed to wipe the computer and other possible fixes or problems it could be, given that he hadn't seen anything in the first place.
He left Event Viewer open on my laptop (which I hadn't known existed previously), so I did a little research (whenever my computer shut down, it was going through a few critical events) and I tweaked a few things in Task Manager and Settings. I haven't had any problems since, and I contribute this to Gary's kind suggestions and unwillingness to take advantage of college...
Read moreMy daughter just started her freshman year at CMU. The day we moved her into her dorm the battery on her laptop decided it did not want to hold a charge. I searched on Google and found that Mt. Pleasant Computer Services, LLC was located just outside of campus and my daughter was able to walk to their location as does not have a car with her on campus. Gary returned my call right away and fit my daughter into his schedule the following day. He was gracious enough to offer my daughter a loaner laptop to use for class until the replacement battery came in at no extra charge which was a huge relief for my daughter. Gary was professional and easy to work with. His prices are very reasonable as well. I highly recommend his services and I am sure we will use his company again over the...
