If you do not want to have a negative experience including the arrogance & lack of compassion from most of the E.R's staff then I would certainly suggest either going to OMC in West Plains or even better to Mercy in Spfld, if you are able to get there. I've heard that OMC has their own issues but that it's nothing like that of this place.
A very select few of the nurses & techs here are great but there's only 1 doctor that I would highly recommend & that is Dr. Broughton. Most of the other medical practitioners here don't seem to care enough to take the time to listen to all of your concerns before they falsely diagnose you with something off the wall & prescribe you un-needed medications for something you don't even have. Thank God they got rid of Dr. Craps-a-ton as he had to be one of the worst Dr's in this hospital's history.
Also, before they put the glass enclosure around the nurses station you could hear the staff speaking negligently about other patients' private information & even gossiping about certain individuals with whom they've had/have a personal issue with.
They must be trying to improve though, as they don't appear to have the same Dr's, nurses, & staff as they did in recent years but I would still recommend going on to Mercy in Springfield. They are a very skilled facility & are even recognized as having one of the top 5 Cardiology teams in the whole country, among many other benefits. The difference in compassion & the quality of care you'll receive are like night & day compared to this place. I'm still surprised that Mercy continues to allow their name to be associated with such a negative atmosphere & experience as that of Mercy...
Read moreMy daddy spent the last 4 days of his beautiful life there. We lost him july 8. Everyone, including housekeeping being friendly yet quiet so he could rest, kitchen staff checking in even though he was unable to open his mouth brought me coffees, clergy members even though we don't share the same religion .. the list goes on and on to include, in my opinion, every department. We came from up by St Louis a few years ago with huge hospitals and some of those are very caring facilities with hundreds of Staff running around but this little facility with very few staff was more than I could ever have hoped for for daddy. I will never be able to truly Express how grateful I am but I know that if my daddy was able to he would have been smiling with how they treated him. One of the nurses made sure his stuffed animal was washed up every day and she would play a little bit of rock and roll when she was in there, after hearing me sing it and play it to him one night. it was amazing... I have decided to share my last photo of my Daddy with you all. He is seen with "Blu" his stuffed rabbit. When we left him that.last night, I called every hour on the hour to check in. I believe his nurse's name was Laura or Lauren but she was expecting my call and told me I could call every 5 minutes if I wanted to check on daddy. She was very caring and concerned and I know Daddy's last 5 hours he spent just like this photo, calm & peaceful. 💗 much love to everyone of you who made me believe in community caring...
Read moreIf I could give Mountain View Mercy 0 stars I WOULD. I've been here multiple times and every time they prove to me that not only the staff is horrible but everything about the whole hospital. My son and I were in a wreck and we went into the ER, it took an hour of sitting in the waiting room to finally go back into a room. The nurse was nonchalantly rude which was even worse then being flat out rude in my opinion if your gonna be like that then say it with your chest. It took her 45 minutes to fill out forms on the computer. Took my 1 year old son's BPM and barely looked at him then said he could leave. I was in there for 4.5 hours to be told "take ibuprofen you don't have a concussion or any other injuries" now 3 days later I still have a huge knot on the side of my head and it's split open., been throwing up, and major headaches. My son has a bruised nose as well as the corners of both eyes being bruised . To say This hospital is an absolute joke is an understatement. I had to correct the man 4 times because he was asking questions for forms about my son and he kept calling him a girl. So he left the room because I was being "hateful" and he came back in and told my husband "she doesn't seem like she's in a very good mood so I'll just come back later" and my husband told him "obviously not they were just in a wreck and you continuously calling our son a girl probably...
