Matson’s fisheries — Local services in Munising

After seeing Gordon Ramsey visit this place in 2021 I said to myself that next time I’m in the area I will make it a point to stop by.. well I was in the area and I stopped by and here’s two main words to describe my experience, Absolutely incredible!!!! As we got out of our car the first smell that hits you is the smell of heavy smoke (hickory possibly) and you can see beloved Ron’s smoke house just as you saw it on uncharted. As me and my girlfriend walked up to the front door a very nice and friendly dog named Hank came up to greet us and proceeded to sit right at our feet and enjoy some pets and scratches… then after hank was satisfied, tail wagging and all, he went off back to his bed for a much needed nap. We then went into the small store. Inside the lovely store was a lot of different hand made items for sale, and a wide selection of fresh fish, smoked fish, fish sausage and fish dip. Which I got one of each of and it all was deliciously fresh and worth the drive. The nice lady at the counter was so sweet and was very happy that we stopped by and said to us to please come back and visit anytime with our family. it was at that point i realized why this place is into its 6th generation, surviving 2 world wars, a Great Depression, a housing market crash and the worst of all, a global pandemic that shut down a lot of small businesses like this one for good. The care and The energy and warmth that you feel here is amazing and means the world to me as a customer. We tried the food truck outside and it was some of the best whitefish I had on our trip. The man was very nice and cooked everything to order. The French fries where incredible and the pita chips and dip where Devine. I just want to say after this very long review. Was looking for some good smoked fish, and I definitely found plenty of it here! I had no idea Gordon Ramsay came here, but I know why he did. The smoked fish sausage is INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS. If I didn't live so far away, I'd be coming here every week to get some. Also, the family that runs it is super friendly! I'm going to be stopping here every time...

Very knowledgeable ladies that greeted us and guided us in our purchase. We had the white fish and lake trout. Both very tasty to make fish tacos while camping. It was cool to see a picture on the wall with Gordon Ramsay and the captain! Definitely will be back to get fish here on...
