I had my first appointment at West Shore Urology Plc, with Dr. Jessica Phelps last week. I was skeptical at first, as I was not greeted very nicely by one of the gals behind the counter....almost snapped at! So I became a bit nervous. I was 15 minutes early for my appointment, as they had directed, and I had completed the pre-registration over the phone so thought I had that out of the way, but none-the-less was handed a clipboard with several pages of medical history questions to complete, which I thought was odd after I had already pre-registered, but what the heck. Before I could complete the first page I was greeted by a very nice young woman (I wish I could remember her name because she deserves to be recognized for her positive attitude and friendly demeanor) and was escorted to one of the many examining rooms. It was the normal routine of her asking me a few medical questions, taking my BP and an ultrasound of my bladder....all the time she was very friendly, making conversation and she really put me at ease. Once finished with her work she left the room and told me not to worry about the papers, that I could work on them until Dr. Phelps came in. Within a couple of minutes there was a knock at the door and Dr. Phelps appeared at the door and introduced herself. I was a little taken back because she was quite young and pretty .... but I guess at my age everyone looks young :-) Dr. Phelps immediately shook my hand and introduced herself and it was like we had known each other for years....she came across as very professional as she asked what I came in for, and as I spoke she listened very attentively. We discussed my issues and concerns and I "didn't once" feel like she was distracted or in a hurry to get on to the next patient/appointment; I've felt this from other doctors in the past and it isn't a very good feeling at all! And, even though the discussion revolved around some pretty personal topics and related concerns, I felt totally comfortable and at ease because Dr. Phelps genuinely listened -- without interrupting, without looking at her watch, without changing the subject....which to me speaks volumes for her integrity. She was not only a good listener, she also responded with empathy ...and I want stress the fact that she was very patient and thoughtful of my situation and took the time to really listen to what I had to say, discuss her thoughts and conclusions very clearly and precisely....and I didn't feel rushed like I have with some other doctors. And I also felt respected and like I was important to her. Talk about a wonderful experience! Dr. Phelps is amazing - and really knows what she's talking about. She performed the examination and I was at ease the entire time... I wish she was the ONLY doctor I had to deal with, because there aren't many doctors around like Dr. Jessica Phelps! Take it from someone who has seen their fair share of doctors. Anyway, to sum it up, I will continue to see Dr. Phelps as my new urologist and am grateful to have found her. I highly recommend that anyone who is looking for a bright, intelligent, friendly, caring and thoughtful urologist look no further. Thank you Dr. Phelps and please don't ever...

Ive been seeing Westshore Urology since 2021 following a bladder cancer diagnosis, and with surgical procedures, subsequent treatment and eventually a radical cystectomy, along with on-going follow-ups, it all means I've seen them ALOT in the last 3 and a half-ish years. In particular Dr Jessica Phelps and her wonderful staff - shout-out to Amber and Samantha in particular, nicest nurses ever! - though I've had dealings with other doctors at this practice due to ER visits or others doctors being on call or whatever. I can say with all sincerity that Dr Phelps has always been professional, attentive, compassionate, skilled, friendly - all the things you hope a physician can be. (Because of my age and health history, ive dealt with a lot of medical professionals, and I can say unequivocally that she is by far my favorite.) Every doctor at this office that I have had contact with has been pleasant and quick to assist me. The office staff in general has been kind and patient, and even with the number of times I've been there, ive never had to wait more than 10 minutes, if that, to be called back to an exam room. When I first started coming here, admittedly there was an ongoing problem with lab orders being faxed but, that was eventually resolved. Other than that, absolutely zero issues with anyone I've come in contact here. I know everyone's experiences are different so, i cannot speak for those who've given bad reviews for this practice but, i can absolutely say that has never been my experience here. Having cancer is a very difficult situation, certainly physically but, i often think moreso emotionally, and I am so very grateful that this office, and in particular Dr Phelps, were the medical professionals I happened to involve myself with. If one has to deal with a serious illness, my experiences here would lead me to say this is the office I would choose to see...

Today, my mom had a follow up appointment from a recent hospital stay where they had to put in a kidney stent and a Foley catheter due to complications from her April surgery where they removed a cancerous tumor from her kidney. My mom had a stent put in 10 days ago and they put a catheter in as well. Told her the catheter needed to be in for a week. Then scheduled a follow up appt for today. On day 8 of having the catheter, she was in so much pain and discomfort that I took her into the ER to have it removed. Flash forward to day 10, her appt day. The nurse who called my mom back was rude and had no smile or was not nice in the slightest. She took us back to the room. Said you are here to have a catheter removed. We said no, that we had it taken out on Sunday. She said who did that, we said the ed and explained it was hurting her too much. She said the whole reason for the appointment was to have the catheter removed and that since it was already done, there was no reason for the appointment. She took us to the checkout, said to cancel the appointment as there it wasn’t necessary anymore. She never once asked about the pain or how she was feeling now. She rolled her eyes and had a look of anger and disgust at us when we took her that it had been removed already. She never once asked about her pain and didn’t go and consult the urologist about the situation. She merely dismissed us. This was horrible horrible service, I am disgusted with the treatment that my mom received today. 0/10 stars. Don’t come here because they clearly don’t give 2 shits about...
