I had called ahead of time to reserve a unit with the first month free promotion that was advertised on the website. The sales associate on the phone was extremely helpful, gave me the details of my reservation, and confirmed that even if I chose not to stay past the first month, that I would still be eligible to receive the free month via the promotion.
When I arrived to sign the lease for my reserved unit, the store manager was very condescending. First when I said that I would not be staying past the first month, she told me that I was not eligible for the first month free promotion. I questioned this as the sales associate I spoke to on the phone said this wouldn’t be an issue. She proceeded to tell me that whoever I spoke with was someone from corporate in Arizona and that it wasn’t representative of that location specifically. After she called her supervisor, it was confirmed that I could still receive the first month free even if I chose not to renew the lease after one month. Even after her supervisor confirmed this she still went on, “are you sure you might only keep her stuff for one week?!”
We continued with the procedure and she mentioned that I would need a protection plan which was understandable, and I asked if I could have the lowest protection plan. She told me that it was $17 and I was fine with that. She then said I would have to purchase a new lock. I already had a lock, that I had purchased from that same location when I rented a unit 2 years prior, but she was adamant that it didn’t matter and I needed to purchase a new one. I was genuinely confused as I’ve never heard this and had seen other storage units with master locks and other brands not purchased from cube smart directly. When I said I didn’t understand why I would need a new lock she said, “you should be grateful you’re getting your first month free.” I asked if she could talk to a supervisor to see if there was a clause about purchasing a lock with the lease and she said “no, she’s very busy” even though she had just called her a minute or two prior.
She eventually agreed to remove the lock charge and pulled up the lease. As I was reading through I noticed there was a cheaper protection plan for $12. So I asked if I could do that plan instead as I had specifically asked for the cheapest protection plan and she affirmed that $17 was the cheapest. She said “no, I already processed it.”

Read moreThis 2-Part review is CRUCIAL for anyone considering self storage. I am an EBay reseller so I have had multiple storage units over the years…and I have had storage units at this particular location for MANY YEARS…starting way before Cubsmart took it over.
The review comes in two parts. The first part is for the NARRAGANSETT CUBESMART location…and the second part is the CUBESMART CORPORATION as a whole. It will be written in two parts due to the length allowed.
So first is my review of the NARRAGANSETT CUBESMART location…which I give a solid 10 STAR review! As I said I have had storage units in this location for many years so I have experienced a lot of different employees throughout those years. Also as I said being an EBay reseller has me in an average of 10-20 stores a week so I encounter a very large number of employees on a very regular basis. So that said…I can say that the CUSTOMER SERVICE provided by the manager Becca as well as Olga on a regular basis is ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! There is no place I shop or anywhere else I go that I can think of a better customer service experience than they both provide. They ALWAYS greet you by name when you come in…and they are ALWAYS are an uplifting part of my day! They have helped me on so many occasions that I could never show my thanks enough! If I was ever starting an actual retail business I would steal both of them from CubeSmart for sure! I also have to mention Karen who is no longer at this location and Margaret who fills in once in a while from another location as also providing OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER...
Read moreI live in Upstate NY, so when my mother passed away in a care facility in Wakefield in the summer of 2019, I had to quickly figure out what to do with the furniture that was in her room. There wasn't much - a desk, dresser, bookcase, etc., but it was more than I could carry home in my SUV. I contacted a mover and then called CubeSmart to coordinate the move. I did it all by phone and the entire transaction went off without a hitch.
Fast forward two years. My sister, who lives in Canada, and I had planned to get everything out of the unit in May 2020, but the pandemic happened. She was unable to come to the US and I just couldn't handle dealing with this alone. But finally, she was able to come to the US and we took care of this in early October 2021.
The manager, Karen, couldn't have been nicer. She understood our conundrum and was very helpful. We ended up having to abandon some of what was in the unit because neither of us were able to fit it into our vehicles. Karen had everything prepared in advance so it was just a matter of signing the paperwork.
The only negative is the entrance/exit. Point Judith Road is extremely busy and the entrance is a bit obscure. We both ended up doing some rather tricky maneuvers getting into the place. The road leading to the place is quite rugged too.
