Horrendous lack of communication—the church backed out three weeks before our wedding despite booking it over a year in advance, and we are scrambling to find a church in the Nashville area that isn’t booked already and is in-budget. Massively disturbed by the way this was handled by Grant and the ways in which I was spoken to in our conversation. Grant only offered to "look into" working with us after I posted my initial review here on Facebook, which I removed as I calmed down from the situation to make sure I still meant the way I worded it and wanted to leave it up. This is my revision, and certainly, I still do NOT recommend this venue.
Our wedding is on August 8, 2020, and today is July 22, 2020. I reached out to him to check about making sure we still had the venue on July 10, and I certainly did not receive a prompt response. He eventually let me know that we actually could NOT use the building, and delivered the news via text very casually as though it were no big deal. I responded to let him know our wedding is only 5 people and that we pose minimal threat from a health perspective and ask if they could work with us, and I received no response at all until yesterday following the post of my initial review here and another follow-up text to him and his wife. I just had my conversation with Grant about access to the building yesterday on July 21 regarding our August 8 wedding, and I was spoken to in a way that was intolerably belittling.
Our wedding consists of 5 people--myself, my fiance, our officiant, a photographer friend, and a videographer friend. My fiance and I have been fully quarantined since March, as I am high-risk for Covid, and have not so much as gone to the grocery store in over 4 months. We are wildly safe from a Covid perspective. Our wedding poses no risk to the venue. We will not have sound, so no one is needed to run that. We quite literally just needed someone to open the doors to the church and turn on the lights. Grant spoke as though he would have to get 10 staff members involved to make our wedding happen. I'm not stupid. When I asked how many people it takes him to open a door and turn on the lights, he said he would "look into it."
Keep in mind, Grant himself said he is at the church often in person. He's been in the church with other people on documented occasions without a mask. This is not a case of avoiding gatherings of any size at all cost due to Covid concerns. This is a case of picking and choosing.
On the phone, Grant audaciously claimed that it sounded like I was "only upset because [I] didn't get [my] way." Wow. I have no problem with not getting my way. It is a part of life, and it happens often. What I DO have a problem with is poor communication. What I DO have a problem with is hypocrisy--particularly hypocrisy of this level within the church. What I DO have a problem with is double-standards made by a pastor depending on whether or not the situation benefits them. Changing plans this last-minute happens, but then neglecting to respond or follow-up at any capacity until a review is posted and concerns are reiterated?? That's unacceptable, particularly when there is a cited lack of consistency in the church's approach to Covid by Grant.
Amanda is great, and if you deal with her, you will likely have a different experience. That said, my experience with Grant was so insanely negative that I would still not recommend this venue or this church.
Wedding planning is stressful enough.

Read moreLove the Nashville Downtown Vineyard church...The worship music is great.... they really allow you to worship and enter in...and they worship too, not entertain. The pastor, Grant is a nice guy. He really is open to the Holy Spirit and allows him to move in the gifts of the spirit as well as prophetic gifts which I don't see much of any more in the churches I've visited. The people are friendly, and its located in a beautiful old church with turrets and a big old beautiful pipe organ in the front when you enter, as well as beautiful stain glass windows.... Love it, just wish it was closer to me. I live 55...

These guys are authentic you can share your flaws and sins and they love you anyway and give you time to change but treat you no different as a result. Great place for families with kids single people or...
