This store carries a good selection of produce and products alike. The prices are comparable to other area Foodlions and better, in a lot of instances, than Harris Teeter and Publix. Their MVP club offers weekly discounts on a huge number of products that my family and I use and/or eat frequently. For the people of eastern NC this store offers a varied and plentiful selection of foods most often earn in this part of our State and Country. The selection of international foods is somewhat limited; however, the selection of local NC grown and harvested goods more than males up for that slight let down. My only complaint, if you can really call it that, is that before their remodel I had the store memorized. I knew where EVERYTHING I needed and wanted was located and could go straight to the items on my list, get all that I needed to get, and be out of the store, finished with my shopping, within 30 minutes. Since the remodel - two, or three years ago now, maybe more - it takes me FOREVER to get the things on my list and check out. The lay out used to make some sort of sense to me. Things were where you would expect them to be. Now its the exact opposite. The lay out and stocking order may make sense to the marketing team at Foodlion headquarters, but out here in the real world it makes no sense at all. Things seem to be in all the wrong places to me and I've yet to be able to memorize where the things I run out of most frequently are located, with the exception of soda, which is located smack dab in the dead-center of the store. On the center aisle. To me it should be to the left of the store more, but to Foodlion it needs to be in the center along with chips and dip. So, in short, it's a great place to get the things you use most often, especially if you live on the Bridgeton side of the Neuse River Bridge, but the layout since the remodel is ridiculous to me and will remain so. If they'd put everything back to where it was before I'd never set foot in their competitor's...
Read moreWent in today to get a cake, card and some balloons. At the check out I asked where I could find balloons and if they would blow them up. The lady seemed annoyed and said where they were and that possibly someone would be able to but she isn’t sure because some people don’t show up for work and I responded that I could not come back again later. So she told me I would have to check out and go get them and come back in line. Fine no big deal. So I waddle my 9 month pregnant butt and my 1 year old over in search of ballons. I go to another check out hoping to find someone in a better mood. Thankfully the next person is nice. Except one balloon has a hole in it. Fine. I don’t even care. It takes 2 people to get the remaining 7 ballons blown up. That I paid $20 for. My son is wanting to be held I’m struggling with holding him, pushing a cart to the car and these ballons that my son is terrified of out of the store. At least 3 employees see me struggling on the verge of tears and not one offers any assistance! On the way to the car 2 more ballons POP. I paid 20$ for 5 ballons. I would rather drive an extra 15 minutes to Publix AND spend more money and get some actual customer service and deal with friendly people! Yes I would rather spend more time and money than come back...
Read moreUsually have a lot of everyday things on sale as well as a good selection of MVP items. This trip though they were out of some items that were on sale and offered no rain checks. There were quite a few empty spots on the shelves as well. That didn't include the paper products either. Over all though the bathrooms are ALWAYS clean the staff is always helpful and friendly. The Bridgeton Food Lion is one of my favorite grocery stores to shop at. Just need to fill those empty spots. One other thing I heard was that most of the meat they sell is shipped in from overseas. I find this disturbing. I'm pretty sure we've got enough hogs and cattle here to supply the population. If it's all about the price well then my question becomes how can meat shipped from overseas possibly be cheaper & if it is what corners are being cut to make that possible? I mean I don't see where ANYTHING is getting cheaper & the mentality of getting it as cheap as possible and selling it for as much as possible is killing our county and pushing folks who struggle everyday with having what they need is just going to make...
