China King — Restaurant in New Bern

My husband and I have been going to this place once a week and at one point 2 times a week for years. They know who I am when I call my order in, The women says hello when they see us in the grocery store.The food has always been decent. Better on some occasions it is terrible The food was so bad on several occasions to the point where my husband and I would not even eat it. We called them a couple times and let them know that the young boy they had cooking was not doing it right.. tonight the food was terrible once again! I called and asked which chef had cooked my food, and they tried to tell me it was the old man! LOL I know better! I didn’t ask for a refund for my whole order which consisted of one General Tso combo, one szchewon chicken combo,steamed dumplings, crab Rangoon, chicken wings, and beef sticks. I Just wanted the two combos Re-made for me when the Young boy was not cooking. They would not do it. She said that no one else complained today so I was wrong! Now keep in mind, I have never asked for anything when my food was inedible in the past, this was the first time and she acted like I was lying to her just so I could get free food!I told her that if she did not fix this they would be losing a customer who had been going there for a long time, and she replied “then I guess you can no longer have service here.” These people are cheap! They are so cheap they don’t even give you fortune cookies or even offer to give you fortune cookies unless you ask for them!lol bottom line is this! They do have good food sometimes. And then other times they have the worst Chinese food I have ever had. So their consistency is not there and they don’t care! I will be going somewhere that their food taste the same every time. I will not be going to this Chinese place ever again. Here's the story. I just ordered food from them through the doordash app and so one of their workers did the delivery and when he came he sat my food on my porch so I went out the door and I told him politely that I have a doorbell and he got rude and said you saw me right. And I said that doesn't matter the doordash app says to hand it to me. So he just kept running his mouth. Then I called to the place and they had the manager call me back but not one time would she allow me to get a word in to explain what I was calling for because she got on the phone and started yelling and being nasty and rude. I could not get one word in. I kept asking her to let me talk but she just kept on. Then she said the guy was new and how would I even know that. But if he was new he ought to have been given instructions on how to treat customers. If the boss is acting ignorant how do you expect the workers to act right. Smh. Not one time did I allow the woman to take me out my character. She got mad because I told her she was wrong for not allowing me to speak, she kept on yelling then I told her she's doing that because she knows I am right. I will never eat from them again. Our first experience with this Chinese restaurant, and we were very happy to drive to Bridgeton, in the Food Lion center, to get a take out order. The Egg Drop Soup was excellent, and perhaps the best we have had in some time. The Shrimp Egg Foo Young was very fresh and not overcooked, the Shrimps were nice size and also fresh. Shrimp egg rolls were also fresh and cooked just right - we were very surprised and pleased. The Shrimp Chow Meine was delicious. Overall a great take out experience, and in my opinion - this Chinese Restaurant has dishes as good as Peter Changs in Richmond, Williamsburg, and Newport News. Well done.
