If I could give this snake pit zero stars I would . My mother was there for rehab for 20 days following a hip replacement surgery and they sent her home with a horrible infection on her back side. The live in care giver I hired the day she came home told me that she's been in this line of work for over 20 years and this infection is caused when someone is left in a filthy diaper for hours on end and not properly washed when they are finally changed. I witnessed patient neglect with my own eyes one evening when I went to check on my mother. A 99 year old woman who was wheel chair bound was siting there crying that she had to go to the bathroom. The nurse said I am sorry but your just going to have to wait for your aid and she's on break at the moment. I yelled at the nurse and said hey lady when you gotta go you gotta go , and once again she told me that she's just going to have to wait for her aid. According to the caregiver it also appears that my mother may have been assaulted by staff there. The caregiver told me that when she first joined our family , every time she went to physically assist my mother she would put her hands up and cover her face and say no no please. My mother has been a victim of abuse and neglect and I think she deserves some compensation for her suffering. I have recently been in touch with an attorney that handles nursing home abuse cases. I included a photo of my mothers condition upon discharge. I wouldn't board...
Read moreLifecare on the 2nd Floor was not 5 star experience. You must go and visit often to make sure your loved us being treated appropriately. My family member often had UTI’s due to not been changed and cleaned. Sitting in a soil undergarment all day. I often heard from my family member certain staff members were mean. I would have to be the one bringing attention that my family member was not feeling well and feels like they have a fever. Besides seeing my family and others slumped or in an awkward position sitting in there wheel chair. I often seen at dinner time those that needed to be fed rushed. I seen the stuffed there mouth and they haven’t swallowed the previous spoonful. They rarely took the residents upstairs downstairs or outside. They did have entertainment from volunteers but it was repetitive. The physical therapist give up on upstairs residents and use the excuse they gone as far as the can. If your family member is a resident up stairs and has some trouble walking they become wheel chair bound. The food was mediocre at times and the juice machine was junk, flavored colored sugar water. Nothing of substance, I often brought drinks, food in. Food downstairs was much better for rehab and assistant living area. It is a nice building the village is the highlight. But upstairs residents can’t really enjoy it. Some staff was amazing and volunteers. Would allow another family stay in the care of...
Read moreI had the great opportunity of volunteering at Waveny for not as long as I would have liked and then COVID hit…I spent many years in the Corporate world and although I am proud of the inroads and the accomplishments my professional career yielded, nothing matches the gratification and appreciation my volunteering at Waveny gave me…Every smile or holding the hand of a resident was met with warmth and gratitude that just gave me immeasurable joy.. I felt I was finally able to give back to those that needed it most….I f this is something you are thinking of doing , please just do it even if it is just an hour a week it will bring you overwhelming joy and a sense of “wow I did something good for someone today” there is no price tag for that type of kindness… I would be back at Waveny in a heartbeat but I have family issues that prevent me from doing so…Please, if you can give a little of your time you have no idea how wonderful you will feel and the gratitude that will be showered on you making you feel like the best thing since...
