I am pretty surprised at how poor quality and customer service this DoD lodging is when you consider the sheer number of people who used to travel through McGuire/Dix.
They only offer transportation to the PAX terminal. I had to walk from the main gate to the main building... Not a huge deal but definitely inconvenient with a lot of bags.
From there I was placed in an old dorm building... Definitely what you'd expect. Barely kept up room with older furniture. But beyond that it was terrible.
What was frustrating about this stay is check-out was at 1100. I requested to checkout late as I could not inprocess for the course I was at McGuire not attend until 1400. I was informed I could do late check out at 1130 but anything after that would result in a charge of another nights stay. How ridiculous is that, an additional 30 minutes.
After checking out I asked if would be able to store my bags while I waited to inprocess. I was told no that the room was being used. I then asked if I could leave them bin the lobby somewhere or with the front desk to which I was also told no. I would have to carry my bags with me around base.
It's quite unfortunate that there is little support to military members who come here for training or transit through there to deploy overseas. I highly recommend to anyone coming there to convince your unit to fund staying off base and for a rental car as the support services on base are limited in scope and the All American Inn is going to do as little possible to...
Read moreThis is basic air force lodging to be honest. So it's bare bones. It could use some updates but it's certainly not the wise military lodging I've had. For service, I would give it 5 stars. All of the staff from the receptionists to the maintenance and housekeeping were incredibly friendly and warm. For the cleanliness of the room, I'd give it 3 stars. Upon checking in, my shower curtain was filthy. There were a few stains in my bathroom. I didn't check the linens because I always bring my own. I sanitized and wiped everything down and could tell there a few areas missed. For location - 4 stars. I'm assuming anyone staying here needs to be in base. There's plenty of parking. You can walk to the shoppett or Pudgy's (a little bar). It's driving distance from the BX but no more than 6 minutes. It's also very close to the gym and dining facility. Amenities- 2 stars. There are no amenities. There's a little shop in the hotel to purchase small snacks. If course everything is overpriced. There used to be a coffee shop but it's since closed. There is usually free coffee available in the morning. I didn't have any but I didn't hear good things. Overall, my stay wasn't bad. The walls are very thin. I could hear my neighbor coughing each night. There were elevators. My heart worked really well. I liked that you can actually open the windows in the room. The rooms came equipped with mini fridges...
Read moreI resided in TLF well over a week and put in a maintenance report the day I arrived for a broken icemaker in the room. The gentleman came the following MORNING (a Thursday), said what the problem was, and stated he was off the next day but would fix it on Monday (huh). There isn't an icemaker in the building. I made several trips across the street to the main hotel to get ice. Needless to say, he never came back. I eventually went to purchase a bag of ice. I made a call the following Wednesday, and he finally came to fix the problem but it makes BROWN ICE!! Eww! (That's a base wide issue though). Next, my husband informed him and the cleaning lady of an ant issue we've been dealing with in the bathroom since arriving and asked if they had spray or something to get rid of them. They told him, "No," and did nothing. They were pleasant, but seemed more overwhelmed. Also, they never changed the weekly linens, as per the memorandum signed by Mr. Jeffrey M. Meyers, Lodging Manager. We check-out...
