The Sandwich Shop LLC — Restaurant in New Hanover Township

So I walk in and ask the girl at the counter, is it ok for me to create my own sandwich. She’s says sure. I say Great! Can I get grilled capicola? She says, oh no we don’t make cold sandwiches hot. Huh? Yeah no we won’t make a cold sandwich hot.

They have a grill and they will grill ham just not spicy ham. So I’m like, is it because it’s spicy ham? Manager walks out says I’m not going to argue with you and walks away. I was just asking for clarification because apparently you can create your own sandwich, as long as they approve! lol.

Now here’s the point. I was fine with having a ham egg and cheese sandwich. Till they said yes I could create my own. Once the manager chimed in like a jerkoff, I decided best not have these people make anything for me. They’re clearly not professionals who put customers first.

Ridiculous customer service, ridiculous policy. In a world where you can walk in with a dog, and demand a bunch of other ridiculous things, I couldn’t get a grilled capicola sandwich. I’ll never...

So been here a few times since the new owners took over. Twice now we have ordered one of their sub boxes (small catering order) and both times the subs were an overwhelming success for the people we were feeding. Everyone always ask where we got them from, how much were they, etc. and all have nothing but positive comments about them.

This place is well run, staff is friendly, subs are 'very good' and prices are fair (not high, but not low). I have not tried their breakfast sandwiches etc. as it is a little out of the way for me to travel there.

Overall, 5 stars. Will continue to go back when in the area or when needing more sub boxes. Only comment would be would like a menu somehow posted online or facebook. Can't seem to find it easily though they do...

The manager has very poor hand hygiene, while waiting in line I watched him rub his nose eat a slice of cheese and continued to prep and cut the food all with out washing his bare hands. Not one glove on. When I brought it to his attention that I witnessed what he did, he completely brushed me off. I am a medical professional, watching him make so much contact with his nose and mouth all while preparing food without washing his hands or attempting to put on a gloves was disturbing and just disgusting. Becareful!
