Great store and such amazing items and prices. The only comment about my experience is that the person working with me could have been a bit more person centered to my style of shopping. I like to browse antique shops and look at things, not touch everything, but put in a basket to decide that I absolutely love it. Annoying to shop owners, yes. More work for shop owners, yes. But, as a business that is a part of the job- I run a jewelry business- I don't expect a customer to purchase everything they put aside. I was given a box to put the items I wanted in, it wasn't made clear that as soon as I put them there, he was calculated the total. The sale was almost refused because I wanted to see what I picked, but it was "too much work, put back in boxes, back on shelf." I even offered to help him put it back if I didn't want it, but "it was already totaled." Normally that's the point in the conversation where i would have walked out. But, his items were gorgeous so I paid and left. I wasn't able to browse as I would of liked to and probably would have put back some items and chose others. Aside from my customer experience I actually plan to go back with the owners business model in mind. Again, great items, great prices, worker was nice but could work on customer...
Read moreHad a lackluster experience here today - came to pick up two lamps from FB marketplace for $295. Asked if the owner could do any better on the two since one of them was cracked on the top, he would not give any compromise (this damage was not disclosed in the FB listing). Also was interested in three small oil lamps totalling $22, he wouldn’t accept my offer for 3/$20, stating that the low cost items don’t have wiggle room for discounts. Sure, i get that, but no wiggle room on the nearly $300 lamps, one of which has damage (pictured below)? It came across as cold and rude. He stated that there were no discounts since tax was already included in the price, but this feels like a weak excuse. Every antique place i’ve ever been to accepts price haggling, and I wasn’t asking for much off. He did pack up our fragile items nicely which is the only redeeming quality for this review.
Overall - not a big deal that my haggling wasn’t accepted, but just know that the prices at this antique store are inflexible, which is...
Read moreI was a steady customer of his for years. He never had a good word for me. Occasionally he would verbally abuse me. A particular favorite of his was "Your mommy's waiting for you" when he wanted me gone. This was because he saw me with my mom when I was a school boy back in the day.. I was a nuisance because frequently bought items that were 1 to 5 dollars. He wants you to buy at least 100 dollars worth of goods to be considered a human being and not some unsightly cockroach crawling about his precious floors. Any well bred storekeeper would have at least a modicum of respect for all his customers. I don't visit his store lest I become a target for his barbed words. If he formally apologizes I will take this...
