New Dorp Library — Attraction in New York

I honestly don't understand why this library has such high reviews. First of all, there are probably only two working outlets in the entire building. It's a library. People come to work and study here. There needs to be working outlets. Clownery.

Second, this place resembles a nightclub most of the time. Every time I come in here there are people playing music, talking loudly on speakerphone, playing noisy games, and children running and screaming. Doesn't sound like how a library is supposed to be.

The most appalling and hypocritical "rule" of them all is there is no food allowed. All other typical library etiquette goes out the window but I can't eat a taco real quick? The worst part was the "security man" came over to me, pointed at the camera in front of me, and said "you've been caught, no food in the library." Are you kidding me? What are you going to do, throw me in jail? I do not appreciate being spoken to and threatened like that. I was eating a taco sir. Maybe make yourself more useful and tell the moms to quiet...

I loveee this library, defiantly the best on the ❤ island. They truly care about the community and their staff. I also think it's pretty cute how most of the staff is either named rob or jen 😂

Also you can defiantly tell the staff trully loves their jobs, because they always smile and make sure u get what u need. ☺

I think My favorite part about this library is how much the staff cares about the Children. Not only do they have so Many activities daily ,But they also take the time to get to know each and every child by name ❤❤❤

OMG - I felt like I was at a Chucky Cheese. Aren't people supposed to be quiet in a library? This is the worst library, noise wise, that I have been to, ever. I could not concentrate at all. Screaming babies, kids & adults talking loud. If people want to talk, they should go to a Starbucks. Also, there is a sign that says, Please, No Food or Drinks- yet when I got there, this women was spreading a whole bunch of food on the table like she was at at restaurant. Worse...
