Island Diva Nail Spa — Local services in New York

I have been going here for over a year. Came in last week. I got two extra services- one to fix a broken nail and a treatment. Usually I am charged $55~ for a basic gel pedicure no extras. This time I was charged $70 at first. The manicurist said it was due to the two extra services and because I got French (strange) I paid. She ended up chasing me out because she “forgot” to charge me for something. Total came out to $80! I had tipped them well (20%)

To be honest the price was very shocking to me. So I share this information with my friends who also go here. Just to find out they charge them $45 for basic gel pedicure (they are white)

Obviously POC is not welcomed here which is sad because I have been nothing but kind and engaging when I come in. Only one young girl is kind to me the other women ignore me for the most part and still do a nice service( which is all I care for)

If you are black do not go here. They will overcharge you and you would never know because prices are not listed in clear view.

It’s a shame because I really enjoyed coming here but I will go where I am...

ACE is my tech and he is THE BEST! When he isn't available, Anna, Jolie and Elaine have stepped in equally as wonderful. AND - sometimes I don't know what I want. I literally look at Anna and ACE and let them decide or guide me - love their creativity! Every single tech is great in their own way and have no problems asking each other for advice if I have a task a little complicated - which I've done (again - I like creativity sometimes). Everyone always has a smile, is friendly and inviting. Pedicures are the best you can receive. And all areas of the salon are always clean. I never worry. I always walk out with better than what I expected and feeling like a million bucks! Anyone who talks this salon and staff down needs their head checked...

so initially the review I posted on here from a month ago was referring only to the poor service I received from this salon, however now I have learned that they make it a standard practice to LIE about the products they use and services they provide. One thing this salon swears by is absolutely NOT doing any kind of acrylic manicures, because acrylic is "cheap and bad for the nail", they say they only do UV gel and color gel. So after getting THREE UV gel + color gel manicures, and paying $60+ each time, I decided to try another salon, at which after soaking my nails in acetone the technician revealed that my manicure was indeed acrylic!
