Nia Casilla is fantastic and knows the Rockaway market like the back of her beautifully manicured hand! She's smart, honest, down-to-earth, pragmatic, and gives great advice on how to traverse the rocky terrain that is the Rockaway Real Estate market.
We met Nia during an Open House in 2012 when we were DFDs (Down For the Day). I can't count how many places she showed us over the following four years during our search for a second home (YES, FOUR YEARS!!!) before we finally bought a foreclosed co-op in 2016 and became DFWs (Down For the Weekend). Cut to 2021 when we decided to sell our Manhattan co-op and finally become DFGs (Down For Good!). We REALLY put her to work and made her show us EVERYTHING during the craziest market ever. Nia was super patient while we figured out what we wanted, and put offers on at least 5 places. The pressure was ratcheted up after she sold our Rockaway co-op to the first visitor to her open house.
During the buying process we got a first-hand look at how important it is to be represented by a local realtor who understands the nuances of the potential minefield that is Rockaway Real Estate. Some Rockaway agents are so old-school that they don't understand how much the landscape has changed during the Rockaway Renaissance post-Sandy. Others are outsiders who don't live in Rockaway or understand the old-school ways that are ingrained in the community. Nia expertly understands both and has great relationships with her colleagues. I can't recommend her highly enough. We're so happy we stumbled in to her Open House a decade ago, and some day, when it's time to move on, I know who...
Read moreMy experience was terrible!!! A realtor by the name of Nichole switzer contacted me to rent out A 3 bedroom. She was totally inexperienced with the process. She canceled a showing and rescheduled assured me that I would be a tenant but after I signed the lease she backed out because I am not in the shelter and she won’t get the 15%. I was distraught. I am a voucher holder but not in the shelter. She made me contact my case worker and rushed him then called him and changed her mind. I took a $60 cab from my job to make it to her anpt showing after she could not make out first meet. At the end she just said look I’m not going to be an ass hole I will ask the land lord if he would pay the brokers fee of 15% instead. I feel she harassed me to get into the home and then backed out because she could not make the extra incentive. I recorded most of our conversation. I try to reach out to the realty company and still no one to help get me into a home. I am not in the shelter I am upgrading into a bigger space and that was not what I got. I have been dragged through about two months by a realtor. Very unprofessional and I am very unhappy about...
Read moreWe had been in the market for a bigger home to fit our family for a year and a half. We had a decent list of “must - haves” to meet our needs and any purchasing deal needed to be contingent on the sale of our house. Lisa Jackson, of Rockaway Properties, saw us gracefully through this process.
In a market where houses were selling with record speed, Lisa found us our DREAM HOME and got our house sold for market value! There were so many moving parts and little bumps in the road because of our contingency and she professionally dealt with each one quickly and efficiently.
Since Lisa served as our agent for the sale of our old house as well as the purchase of our new property, we were able to see her work ethic through both lenses. Lisa has a large inventory of properties and an incredible pool of eager buyers. She is a skillful negotiator. She is always calm, kind, professional and respectful. She is easily reached and available. Technically, both of our deals could’ve fallen through multiple times but Lisa saved the day over and over again and we are now in our dream home because of her steadfast service. We are...
