Staten Island Skating Pavilion — Local services in New York

Where do I start from only 1 cashier on a Saturday night during a holiday break to it being the worst skating experience i think I have ever had. With over 40 years of skating, this review is manly to the owners ! I get the idea of a quick money grab with the "WALKERS" but it needs to be controlled. Maybe 10yrs and under and from 1 side of the rink to the blue line. Cone off the area for use only. There were too many pre-teen and teens using these, and honestly, they weren't even needed as to several kids i saw had their own skates. Complete disregard for directions and other skaters. And don't blame skate guards, but with only 2 on such a busy night was out of their hands even. Please do better and make skating there enjoyable...

Despite the run down area where it's located, it's actually not a bad facility. It is just down the road from a recently abandoned prison.

The facility is pretty clean and they seem to be well organized with regard to their hockey program. The rink has a nice balcony where spectators can watch games. And while I've never actually seen people use them, there are rooms that appear to be used for parties.

The outside of the place looks very run down, and as you drive up to it, you kinda want to just turn around and leave. But once you get inside, it's actually not too bad.

We arrived as public session started paid $50 for my 2 daughters & myself to skate. First off we had a tough time even getting on the ice. There was only 1 door open to get on which was packed with people videoing & taking pictures. The skate guard was just standing there talking to his buddy. While we skated it was a free for all. People skating wrecklessly in all directions which cause my daughter to fall. While a figure skater was practicing a spin she almost kick a kid in the head because he darted through center ice that was coned off for them. I left so my kids didn't get hurt.
