Stop & Shop — Local services in New York

Great place to shop for groceries. They have a big selection of items and have fair prices as well as coupons and membership savings.

They recently did renovations which involved labeling the departments with giant light-up letters, prioritizing the self-checkout section near the entrance/exit with a bigger space and about 8 checkout machines, and also switches around most of the aisles.

Some of the new aisle changes are a bit strange to me. Like they have the bread aisle pretty far down near the personal care items and the international section takes up roughly 4 aisles towards the beginning end (left side). This side also contains bulk beverages like 12-pack Coca-Cola and Pepsi products. And it's also pretty weird that the Pharmacy is near the soda products and there are a few personal care items nearby, but the majority of the personal care items are now all the way at the other end of the store??? I feel like they should have kept them near the pharmacy like before, but I want to hope that there was a method to this madness and I guess I can get used to the new arrangement.

(I also found it hilarious that I found toilet paper next to the beans.)

There are certain things here that irk me like labeling avocados as 5 for $3 in one section and then $1.66 each in the section right behind it. It makes it seem like 5 for $3 might be the better deal, but the price you pay for one is still $1.66 so it's just strange that they felt the need to include a 5 for $3 sign. Also, the fact that some products are unnecessarily wrapped in huge amounts of plastic is so wasteful and bad for the environment. 4 small tomatoes do not need to be covered in plastic. There's a ton of other examples I could give, but I don't want to be here all day.

But overall, this Stop and Shop is still a great place to buy your groceries and I will continue to come back here. I wish they would be more sustainable with their packaging, but that's a way bigger problem than just this particular Stop & Shop so I feel inclined to give them a pass. I'm a shopper 😎 I absolutely give credit when deserved reason for my 1 Star because I was to purchase food and I'm very grateful VERY... as soon as I pulled up and parked they was a I'm not sure was the maintenance whether he working the store and he was sweeping.. The parking was pretty weird,so my friend got out the car and my friend went to ask him if that parking was okay! because like I said it was pretty weird.. anyway! he started screaming!! I have no money 😳 I could not Believe my ears as we proceed to walk into the store they're two gentlemen standing in front of the store I asked for customer service the attitudes were terrible it's horrible you working for retail and retail is about customer services Walk to the deli they have an attitude they're closed they still have 25 minutes as with the register guy told me he was the only one I don't remember his name oh my goodness.. black hair glasses and Latino young I would literally just go back to the store just to get his name because he was amazing but he was the one that said the night with respect and manners so he deserves for sure 10 stars .. night time is a little hard .. but he apologized for them come to my attention the gentleman at this front one was a security guard huh!! you have an attitude in a supermarket!? you can't answer a question when I asked I said guess what I'll never come back to the store again. Terrible customer service terrible terrible terrible and is what it is right.. you want to shop in a place you know comfortable environment so I can mention in my review it was very uncomfortable there's another stop & shop Howard Beach definitely will be giving them a fantastic review other than that pricey! I actually came to this store because it was on my way home but my preference I would go back to Howard Beach the customer service fantastic 😍 overall I'm blessed I shopped I just will not be returning...

My family and I have been shopping at this stop and shop since it transitioned to be stop and shop! Today I had the most horrible experienced. I was online loading my groceries my mother followed right after me. The cashier that’s has painted grey hair and is Hispanic she must have not been in a good mood. She flung the divider and almost hit my husbands hand while he was loading the belt. Then she starts arguing with my mother who is a senior citizen!!! I turn to my mother and tell her don’t respond back to her this cashier just kept on so now I’m annoyed. She told me she was the manager I said acting like that arguing with customers!!! That’s the management that stop and shop is representing??? Then she goes over to the security guard and tells the security guard something. I get off the line and go to speak with the REAL manager. After being disgusted by this women’s attitude I leave the store and older women approaches me as I am loading my car she tells me that she had an argument with the same lady last week!!! So now this lady is just out here arguing with the elders!! Nah stop and shop what are ya doing?? First she claims she’s a manager and just doing her job! Your a cashier your job is to ring people up and make sure your draw ain’t short.

This includes operating the cash register, handling cash and credit transactions, and maintaining the cleanliness of the checkout area. They also answer customer inquiries, assist with product location, and may be involved in stocking shelves or other general tasks as needed.
