Gap — Local services in Newport Beach

I visited this store as a regular customer outside of my working hours and had one of the most upsetting experiences I’ve ever had in a retail environment. A team member suddenly raised their voice at me, in front of another manager, over something that didn’t warrant that kind of reaction. I was genuinely scared and shaken. I’ve never been spoken to like that in public, especially in a place where I expected basic courtesy.

To make matters worse, another customer who witnessed the incident left the store, clearly uncomfortable. I reported the incident right away, and respectfully asked for the name of the team member involved and the HR contact. It’s now been over a week and no one has followed up or even acknowledged the seriousness of what happened.

This experience had a deep emotional impact on me. I was anxious for days afterward, and honestly still feel uneasy thinking about it. I expected accountability and a safe, respectful environment — and I received neither. I sincerely hope no one else goes through...

I want to give a huge shout out to The Gap in Crystal Cove California. Their store is always impeccable, and it is also inviting with warm Customer Service from the moment you walk in the front door. Two weeks ago I came in and was given such personal attention by Lilly to help me buy several outfits. When I was checking out, Ryan looked through each piece and gave me reassurance of what I was buying with his excellent taste in clothing as well as Lilly’s. I had a belt emergency where my belt buckle broke during my vacation. My shorts were down like the kids who wear pants below their hips and have their underwear show intentionally. Not the case for me. Luckily we had gone to a shopping center originally to shop at Trader Joe's but my luck during this belt emergency was The Gap in the same center.
