Great little getaway nestled down in the southwest corner of Crystal Cove State Park. It’s quite popular on the weekends in the off season and most everyday in the summertime! Locals and visitors flock to this section of the park for hiking and biking, group and family gatherings and for sunset views. Beach restaurants like the Beachcomber are a local favorite all year round! Limited parking is available by the lower beach side lot, accessible to area by a steep staircase. Otherwise parking at the Crystal Cove State Park main entrance lot offers three ways to cross over. First and foremost, hikers simply take the crosswalk across at the main entrance and then left on the small pedestrian footpath. Foot access is also possible thru the park tunnel, a highlight for many to visit along the way! The Beachcomber Shuttle runs regularly between the station by the main entrance booth and the Historic Cove Stop for...

So uniquely California! These historic beach cottages are amazing. I have stayed in several abs highly recommend. The views are amazing. The pathways might abs day are amazing to walk. The long stretches of beachwalk, tidepools, cliff walks give los of options of walks. Tge shake shack and tge restaurant have on facility places to eat but the kitchens within the cottages is smoke too bring your own in. Although I would recommend precooking your things or bringing a camp side to stay in cottages as someone's the vintage 1920s and 1940s stoves are more decorative. But they airways have microwaves. There is free fresh coffee and tea at the ranger station with a magnificent deck and views and friendly rangers to help guide you. There is a museum up there as well as down on beach to see. I've been there all times of year and always have a wonderful time. ...

I'm a retired oc native. Before learning to drive, I'd pedal down to the Date Shake Shack on PCH overlooking this little heavenly community of beach cottages from the 30s. That little vignette of surfboards, barbecues and a Hobie Cat pulled up on the sand became my go-to mental escape when needed during a high-stress high-tech career. Now I run on this beach 5 days a week and marvel that it is all preserved (except the Hobie Cat - c'mon conservancy fix that!) The cottages are even rentable, although it's like winning a lottery to get a reservation 😉. ...
