This establishment came highly recommended. I went to the mattress supercenter in order to explore the inventory only but I was also open to buying three particular items if they had what I was looking for. When I arrived, the owner was very helpful, insightful, and he was also patient. Unfortunately he did not have exactly what I was looking for. He had items that I could settle with but it wasn't what I wanted. The owner was very open to providing me with suggestions and other options to explore at other stores. He recommended other establishments that I may likely find what I was looking for. I was shocked by his willingness to share whom else may have what I was looking for. Before I left to go explore other options, he did offer to order what I was looking for and he also tried hard to sway me towards his items which was almost close but not exactly what I wanted. That is what a salesperson should do everyday so there was no issues with that. As I was leaving to go explore other options the owner made it known that the local mom and pop establishments such as his own needs to survive by making money. He said that the big chain companies will survive and they have the potential to cripple the local owners. In return I made it clear that I understand his concerns and also that I would possibly return if I had no success with finding the items of my interest. I went to three other stores and I only found one of the three items that I was looking for. I wanted to stay in the local surrounding areas and I returned back to the supercenter. I walked in and told the owner that I would take one of his items. He was not happy (due to the last conversation) but I truly understood the issue. I figured that the sale would turn things around for the better. On the previous visit he had quoted me a price and I settled with it without any haggling or complaints. When doing the checkout process I was charged nearly $38 in sales tax. This was a total sales tax of 9.89%. That included a state tax rate at 7.5% and 2.3% debit card swipe fee. Obviously there is an average tax rate and a max tax rate on sales tax for the state of NC. This also applies to the debit/credit card swipe fee starting at 2% and up to 4%. The atmosphere was very different than the prior but I wasn't going to allow the situation to bother me. My purchase got loaded onto my vehicle and I drove away. The owner has the right to implement taxes and fees as he desires within the state laws but I'm sure that he is very intelligent and experienced in sales. It appears that he taxed me in that way out of being spiteful or possibly being vindictive. I did have the opportunity to decline the sale or to not swipe my debit card but I continued with the transaction. I highly recommend and also support local establishments. I also know what I want and I have the right to shop wherever I desire. After leaving the supercenter, I went to the store Hobby Lobby and they had a very similar item at a much lower price, lower sales tax, and more to my liking. I continue to have my purchase from the supercenter and I have grown to like it very much. I am happy with the product. I did go back to those that highly recommended the supercenter and I asked about the sales experience and they were not taxed at the same rate and nor were they charged a debit swipe fee. I'm sure that small establishments have to make gains however they can.There's no hard feelings toward the owner. Go to this establishment and see if there is something there for you. I'm hopeful that my experience is not a frequent one and that it was just the way things played out on that particular day. I posted on here about it and was asked to contact the mattress center. By the owner. Upon talking to him about what the mattress is doing and what we were looking for in a mattress and how he slept between sides or on your back. He picked out another mattress and said this should be a great fit for us he had a special order it. When it came in we received it. I can truthy say Rick will stand by his promise to make it right for you if you are not satisfied, no matter how long it takes. Rick really is a straight up guy doing his best to keep it true to the saying "the customer is always right". I know now that it was out of his control doing his best to make me happy with my purchase.
