The most amazing shelter! If you want to adopt a dog, this is the place to go. Every single staff member is friendly, their kennels are clean, and they have a really nice play yard.
We visited 4 shelters over 1 weekend trying to find the right dog for our family. Other shelters were rude to us for wanting to meet with more than 1-2 dogs, some were pushy over certain dogs and mad when we didnât think they were the right fit, and others wouldnât let us bring our dog to dog test with potential adoption dogs. BUT NOT CATAWBA COUNTY! They let us see as many dogs as we needed to see in order to find the right one. There was no long wait to be walked back to look at dogs. They provided plenty of toys to play with dogs with. Gave us detailed info on each dog we asked to look at. They werenât pushy with their suggestions. They encouraged us to bring our other dog to see how interactions would go. The dogs in their care looked healthy and clean. They adopt dogs the right way. They are in it for the best interest of the individual dog, not trying to adopt to whoever with whatever dog just to have higher adoption numbers. Cannot recommend this shelter enough if youâre looking for a new furry family member. Go meet their animals and staff and see for yourself!
We welcomed Roczee as our family dog and are thrilled with her and the entire experience....
Read moreI adopted this little Angel three weeks ago . We named him Sebastian but we call him bash . They called him Big John and he has a brother who is so adorable. If I didnât have my other cat and dog I would have adopted him as well. The staff was friendly and let you spend as much time with the any of the animals there . Unfortunately this is a kill shelter which breaks my heart because so many sweet babies there who need a good home . The Humane Society seems to get all the funding and resources. I would go here first if you are wanting a cat , kitten or a dog . They do a good job with limited resources. Please go to the shelter first . They were not very nice at the humane society and I would not go back there. So if you truly want a wonderful friend for life go to the Catawba County Animal Control First . If I could adopt them all I would. The older dogs and cats make wonderful pets as well. Please support this group and save a fur baby today. Do not adopt if you truly canât take care of one . They need healthcare just like us humans . They want love and care just like us . I truly hope someone will see this and go adopt a beautiful pet . Their love is unconditional....
Read moreI have a playful, clean, healthy chiweenie named Tiny. In September 2023 my daughter was dog sitting while I was gone for a few days. When I returned home I was told he had died. In January 2024 I was served papers for animal cruelty with a court date which keep getting continued. At the end of May there was another continuance but as I was leaving the lady from animal control spoke with me. She told me to get tiny so far was over $2,300. And it was $10 a day that he was there. I started to cry. She said unless you sign him over to us. I sat down crying even harder and told her NO that he shouldn't have been taken in the first place. That nothing was wrong with him. He did not hurt he was well fed and clean. My next court date was scheduled 2 months out from then. And they expect me to pay $10 a day or sign him over to them. Are they crazy? I've got pictures to take to my next court date. And maybe a few people will write a letter for me to take to court with me. And a friend is going with me to court. I WANT...
