Found a Pokemon card I wanted. Sticker on card was $25 but market price on TCG was $11 which the store employee confirmed on his computer. He said they bought the card for $20 when it was a new product and canât lose money on it. That is the definition of sunk cost fallacy and violates the whole principle of comps and market value which is how all cards are done especially with Pokemon following TCG values. He pointed out they paid the right price at the time relative to TCG prices to which I pointed out that he wouldnât sell for the right price based on the same comp strategy. He also mentioned that a parent would pay that price if their kid really wanted it or someone really needed it for their set.
