Wow...haven't been to a place this bad in a VERY VERY long time. Ordered 3 meals for the two of us for a Sunday brunch. Omelet was actually very good. Asked for bacon well done and came out perfect. Pancakes were fair at best(banana and blueberry). If you like your blueberry in the center of the pancake only, and if you like banana that is absent, these are for you! Was excited to get the pastrami sandwich with fries. The fries were hard and cold and the pastrami was literally the size of my thumb. I brought it to the attention of Management and her only response was "it was because how the spread on the sandwich "....seriously, literally no pastrami between 2 slices of nice bread! We sent it back. They brought out fresh fries(the side to the pastrami). They took back the pastrami and wanted to charge us for the now warmed hard fries! Maybe worth a drive to another town for decent food and respectful service. A response TO management:
What a totally disingenuous response to an embarrassingly bad experience. Our server was literally non-existent, we had to request another server to send someone to our table as no one stopped by for over 5 minutes when we were first seated. She then made an excuse (possibly a joke), she "come by when people are ready to order". I guess that must be what you refer to as fine service from your experienced staff. When she was asked about things on the menu, she couldn't answer(said she was only there 2 months). Our water glasses were empty, and our food was below subpar. When YOU came to our table and looked at the empty piece of bread that was to contain pastrami, you looked like a dear in headlights....instead of providing a response, you just stood there with your mouth agape(look it up). For your lousy food and horrible service, your lovely waitress received a 20% tip(20% more than deserved). I didn't mention your dried out old sausage links that were served to us...so hard and dry, we wouldn't give them to our dog. Really, just because someone gives you an honest review of your horrible service, decent omelet and lousy other food(worst fries EVER), you shouldn't lash out....you should review what you are doing and try to improve. Here is someone else's review....keep ignoring them and you will be out of a job:
Our only disappointment was the food. The food pricing (expensive) was not justified. It was small portions and, while it was good, it was not tasty enough to justify the price.
Many places we go to are only slightly cheaper, but there is more food and it tastes better.
So I bet you don't want them back at your place either? It explains why you only had 5 reservations for the afternoon. Maybe use your feedback to reflect on what you can do to improve your diners experience (first step would be to taste...
Read moreThis has easily become our favorite restaurant in Newtown... or anywhere outside of NYC really. Michelle and company have done an amazing job from the moment you enter until the moment you leave. Adding to the atmosphere, is a first class staff and wonderful service. it most importantly, the menu. Every items isn't just the standard "run of the mill" but rather carefully selected, finely presented and loaded with robust flavor. We had the pleasure of Winnie (chef/owner) making his rounds to our table. We were delighted by his passion and love for cooking, which shows in every meal we'be indulged in. Everything is o finely chosen and fresh, and the flavor!! OMG it's out of this world. I love that the menu isn't standard, but rather carefully crafted like an art. I tend to be a hard critic of food, but Farmhouse nails it every time. Plus, you will not encounter kinder, more caring and totally hands on people. Michelle and Winnie are truly amazing at what they do- ensuring each customer who experiences Farmhouse will not easily forget. I love the combined passion, flavor, spirit and feel you get from the moment you're greeted. So happy and lucky to have this truly delicious restaurant...
Read moreOk, strap in. I always saw the sign, and was intrigued yesterday by the judicious amount of space between the outdoor picnic tables (given our current situation) and made reservations last night for brunch today. First in, first table, and wow. The free space, easily 15 feet between tables, and a big umbrella for more shade.
Let's talk about the food. It was wonderful. I'm GF/DF so my options are usually limited. They made GF fried calamari and GF lumpia that were both amazing. I had the pastrami Ruben, on GF bread, my wife had fish tacos, and my daughter had pancakes. Everything was wonderful. The ruben was peppery (they put bacon pastrami on top) and had the right amount of kraut though it could have used a touch more dressing on account of the GF bun (not their fault), my wife's tacos were well seasoned and flavorful, and my daughter's French toast was delightful (my wife tried a bit and said OMG).
All that, plus coffee and an adult beverage ran us $85. It was the best example of getting what you pay for I've had in some time.
I give this establishment 5 masks out of 5 and is my new quarantine oasis in Newtown. Thanks Michelle (I think) for making our first...
