I've visited many Costco locations in and out of the Chicagoland area such as AZ, NY, Wisconsin, and this location is just lacking in certain ways: 1. The parking lot is inadequate There are not enough spots, and it's located near a truck zone for Target. They don't enforce the no parking area for this truck zone, so what happens is people park and block it. The trucks then have to use space behind legit spots and you get trapped in your spot by a freight truck. They either need a redesign or actually enforce the no parking and offer more spots elsewhere. 2. Returns experience is inconsistent We've been able to return some items on occasion. We've only made like 2-3 returns in the years we've shopped here. A bag of dry and bad tasting oranges were accepted with 1 or 2 eaten or attempted to be eaten. But when our Cuisinart toaster oven that started giving us issues after 8 months just stopped working after 11 months due to the poorly designed operation button/dial, the employee handling our return gave us a hard time. They said that it has been over a year since purchase (when it had been 11 months based on the receipt and their records). When I clarified this, they still made us feel like they were making an exception to their rule (which is not true) AND they refused to give us a full refund and gave us store credit. Fortunately we were able to use this credit on a better product (shout-out the Ninja flip air fryer oven). But that experience really soured Costco's return policy which we don't abuse, but I'd rather deal with another location that understands their own return policy. 3. The store layout is horrible for space They stack excess stock everywhere. They block the freezer aisles with pallets of product. They place huge blocks of product at ends of aisles, making navigation with a cart almost impossible in what is already a crowded Costco. I've never experienced this at any other Costco location. In fact, we are in awe at how much space we have in other locations, we don't dread having to use a cart. 4. Signage and displays are often in bad shape Sometimes the products on display are missing, broken, or just in bad shape. Sometimes we can't find the price sign for a product anywhere. Do we really have to hunt down an employee to get the price of a fan? And how do we know the quality of a product if there isn't one on display or it's missing parts. 5. Poor design of exit area The food court, the member service desk, returns, and the exit from register to the door all feed into each other. This makes getting anywhere after paying so difficult, it deters me from going to the food court. Again, this is just something about the layout I haven't experienced at other Costcos because their food counter and court aren't directly next to the registers and exit and service desk. If you can get to a different Costco, I'd recommend it. If anyone from this location reads this, I hope there are some plans to improve some of these issues.

9/30/21 Day #2 of sale. Carts way depleted. Pretty crowded at 4:30pm. Sale item 16 oz Cerave - sold out. I bought the last 2 pack. They only had 5 short tiers of this to begin with - I'm guessing 80 or so. $5 difference between online snd the warehouse price - still a bargain. You just have to make sure if it is a high desireability item don't even think of waiting until later in a sale. This is the problem. Never can count on consistent product availability. Brands change with sales. A larger size 40 oz Chobani Greek yogurt - only available on sale. Items like Quick N' Eat Angus Microwave Patties before allegedly "seasonal" now deleted permanently (available elsewhere). That said, Kirkland products are excellent. Their Greek Organic Yogurt is FABULOUS. Smooth, not watery at all. I trust their canned chicken breast, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar. Non- sale prices still very good , like 3 lbs Italian meatballs $19.99. Great meats. Decent produce. Non-Kirkland items - like coir rugs - lower priced, some available limited time then gone. I liked the Tommy Bahama stretch belt, but there was no way to judge how much the stretch would affect size. Generally helpful cooperative, not always genial staff, a few who just look overly focused. . . Discriminating informed shopping yields great results. If you know your prices as a comparison shopper, Costco rocks.

I heard from my acquaintances that they use to reprint expiration labels at Costco but I didn't pay attention to it till my recent purchase. I bought wild caught salmon at the price of $6.99 on February 11 and the expiration date was February 13. The associate told me they put this low price because it was expiring in 2 days. So, I was leaving the store 40 minutes after its closing and there was lots of salmon at the price $6.99 left at the store. I called my friends to buy wild caught salmon at this price next morning, on February 12. They arrived at the store before it was opened and they didn't find salmon at that price, it was $13.99 per pound and the expiration date was February 17!!! Where did salmon at the price 6.99 go??? The labels of the yesterday's salmon were changed and it became more expensive because someone changed their mind and put at risk the health of people!!! It's so dangerous! I wonder how long have they been reprinting the labels for the same food? You can't play with fish!!! Whoever heard my story would never buy any fish at Costco!!! The experience may cause death.

Their "sunglasses" are daylight ( does not return to CLEAR ) and must have MORE EXPENSIVE & LESS PRECISE "PROGRESSIVE" LENSES BUT not BIFOCAL/ TRIFOCAL and more accurate individual vision distance. Also: a few people , CANNOT adapt to "progressive" lenses and are dangerous for them , more so with age or / and disability/ balance CONDITIONS? Large quantity is the key! Many customer/ members are small business or reastaurant owners who can buy in large quantities for their selves and their bussiness. Many are loyal foreigners who may or may not know some prices are similar to their small quantity items or less? But I'll keep going, within my means and for partirs or faily get together's ( that's how much I respect their quality and prices on certain items; where can you get a hanging amb or pig , near you, or 3 gallons or larger of ketchup, mustard, pickles, frozen anything and fresh buchered or bakes good under one roof?) Try it you'll like it: drugs don't require membership and a "guest" pass to browse is available ( at this time?) I have a Costco membership. My family comes here with me more than 5 times every month for grocery, electronics, household stuff, wellness needs and all. I pay for some things separately for my own personal use. And my sister pays for our weekly groceries for budgeting reasons. We spend a lot of money at your store mostly.

We came to shop on a Saturday. There were lots of people shopping so I ended up going first to the line and another customer came behind me so my sisters ended up getting behind her. Costco cashier told me that if I bring my family with me, they are considered guests so they need to pay cash if they are going to use my membership. I told her we live in the same household so why should they need to pay cash when I am in front of her with them. She still insisted so I did use my card to pay for the groceries just to end the discussion and so other people get serve. I went to the customer service desk and inquired the reason for the cashier to enter into that discussion with me. So a supervisor was called. Supervisor said because they are considered guests. And when they swiped their credit card Costco pays a percentage of their credit card purchase. So even if they are my family and we live in the same household, they still need to get a membership for them not to pay cash.

That did not make sense to me at all. I told the lady to send a feedback to their management to reconsider that new policy.

Even if for any reason somebody brings in a guest and use their membership, how come they just think about the small percentage that they have to pay for the credit card being swipe and not the big picture that those guests are spending big money at their stores and giving them the business??? If there are no customers, there will be no jobs for your employees and your business will crumble down. Inflation is on a high level and for you to be inconsiderate and just thinking about what you can get instead of what you can give back to your customers as a form of kindness and loyalty then that shows you don’t even care. And for your cashiers to even bother us at the register and call another person for us to sell an upgrade saying it will be beneficial for us, that is baloney!!! I urge you to reconsider your not so good policy to the economy’s situation and the customers financial situations. You are even raising your membership rate every year. And that upgrade sales pitch that your employees are using ā€œ if you don’t upgrade today it will be an additional $10 if you decide later!ā€ Come on! Wake up before you start losing your members instead of increasing them.

I never had any issue at Costco until this time. I was happy being your customer even if you are 25 minutes away from where we live. I still would like to do business with you but I will surely will be doing more business somewhere else as well. Be kind! Do the right thing to...
