MOTEL EDGEBROOK CHICAGO NORTH SHORE BY OYO — Hotel in Jefferson Township

I cannot say that this is a spanking modern typical hotel that one might find although they are in the middle of renovations it is a fairly old one of a kind motel .. HOWEVER IT HAS ALL THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS IN MY OPINION OF A REALLY GREAT PLACE FOR ITS VALUE! Everyone at the front desk was exceptionally kind nice helpful in every way. The rooms again rather old-fashioned but had tremendous amounts of closet/drawer/closet/desk space... Actually more than any of the dozens of hotels Ive stayed in. And I have to say more than ANY TV ANYWHERE....hundreds and hundreds of amazing TV channels with 24/7 with few if any commercials... Pretty much any and all categories you could imagine. ...and I say with a bit of humor only hard if you're supposed to be working like I was because it was very tempting but.pretty amazing if you're on vacation 😁 You are within walking distance of a Target and a ALDI grocery store and a nice clean microwave and cute little refrigerator should you want to bring groceries back. tee It was exceptionally quiet... Coffee ice and freshwater in the lobby... The main reason I took time to give this small motel a five-star even though it might surprise some because it definitely is old-fashioned and not state of the art AT ALL appearance-wise.... Is that having come from a more expensive motel 6 in skiller Park where I had horrendous front desk service ..endless insects.. noise you name it... And then for the first time ever deciding to call corporate over and over .. to at least spare the next guest...and.. almost two weeks later.. after multiple calls to so-called customer service haven't heard a word back.. when all I wanted was to be heard and follow through so as to improve.. SO this place BEING THE exact opposite .. was a much needed treat... and even though it's definitely not your typical franchise or top of the line franchise hotel.. EDGEBROOK MOTEL IS..really really worth...

THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING!! If I could give it a Zero, I would. The floors weren't swept or mopped and had all kinds of debris and dirt and sticky spots on it, the desk still have the water stains on the glass from the last time it was used. The bathroom was horrendous! Holes in the bathroom walls that were covered with decaying cardboard, the tub looked dirty but it also looked like it was the original tub from when the motel originally opened. And to top it all off, the room has BEDBUGS!!!! It took me a while to get comfortable to lay down and go to sleep but I never made it to full sleep.. This is because the air was on blast but there are no controls in the room.. I sat there freezing, which made it impossible to sleep.. Once I got the vent closed and layed down in the bed for 30 minutes, I started feeling a stinging on my back and arms. I physically didn't feel anything and when I first looked didn't see anything in the bed, at first. I got out the bed and saw a blood stain, then I finally saw a bedbug, full of my blood, crawling back to the hiding spot in the wooden base of the bed. This was at 5am. So I just got up shook out all my things as I packed them and left. When I went to check out and turn in the tv remote, I informed the guy at the desk about the bedbugs and he told me it's not possible because the room was just remodeled. Absolutely bull!! I will definitely be finding a lawyer, if I brought an infection back home with me. DON'T USE THIS MOTEL!! Yes I checked the bed and the corners of the room for them, before I attempted made myself...

I am only giving the two stars because the staff members were SO SO friendly so incentive credit where it’s due.

Since I’ve said, the rest was horrible. My room did NOT look like the picture online and the pictures others have posted. It was an awful thrown together purple painted room with random, mismatched, worn out furniture and lamps that looked like they were picked up at a garage sale. I wasn’t expecting super nice because of the price and the limited availability since I was traveling through during Lala weekend.

There were no electric sockets in the bathroom at all! I had to unplug the microwave to use my hair dryer.

Walls were gross. Headboard was gross. Three of the four light bulbs in the bathroom were missing and the one remaining bulb kept flickering.

I’m not sure where someone said in their review that they had tons of free channels. When I got my remote (they give it to you at check-in which is weird), I could only get 4 very grainy channels.

The worst part was that I couldn’t control the A/C!!!! There was no thermostat. It was a yucky warm room!!! I like to sleep cold plus it’s August!

I’ll also say that the location was in a good area and there were lots of things around. This place just needs a major upgrade. It did at least include a microwave and a mini-fridge.

If you REALLY need somewhere to lay your head only, it’ll work. Otherwise, it was one of the worst rooms I’ve...
