I’m genuinely disappointed in my experience here. The 4.9 rating on Google, backed by thousands of positive reviews, gave me the confidence to visit with the expectation of fair and honest service. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience.
After having my device evaluated, I was initially offered $250. The associate mentioned she would check with her manager to see if a higher amount was possible and suggested $300 might be doable. However, she later returned and said they could only offer $200—a lower amount than the original offer, which left me confused and frustrated.
For context, the exact same device I brought in has recently sold on eBay—completed listings, multiple bids— used condition, for $650 to $700+. And new ones from Best Buy are $1,199. I wasn’t asking for anything close to that retail value, only $400, which I felt was reasonable. I understand a business needs to make a profit, but reducing the offer from $250 to $200 after discussing a possible increase felt like a blatant attempt to take advantage of someone in a tough situation.
This experience only reaffirmed the general distrust many people have with pawn shops. Despite the stellar reviews, this visit reminded me why I typically avoid them. So I asked him for discount. Below are the price for cds that I picked.
This guy was African American man and he charged me even more..So I told him that I don't want it. And he brought the cds Ps2 2ea Psp 3ea I checked the scratches and I only chose 3 cds that were in good condition. Other 2cds had many deep scratches on it and some cds were broken (They just patched with clear tape)
So I said "ok I want only 3 psp cds"
And he suddenly got angry and yell at me "YOU CAN'T JUST CHOOSE 3CDS you have to buy all cds you picked."
I am not sure he is the manager but He was really rude and I don't understand why would I have to buy scratched cds.. I didnt buy anything today since he insisted me to buy all cds that I picked..
I think he was upset because I asked him to check the scratches and did not buy them all. But I am the customer and it was his job to do that. He shouldn't yell at me like that.. I am not sure if he treat other customer in same way or not. But he should not show this attitude...
