Restaurant and Sandbar are great. Events can come up short due to plain old greed. Apparently, even with so-called "VIP" passes to big events, you can't leave a concert that runs all afternoon and evening long and come back later to see the show that you bought your tickets to see, because you might just spend a few dollars elsewhere on food or drink or have beverages stashed in your car or something. (Are we all stuck in high school or what?) Meanwhile, drink and food prices are high for an offering of mediocre fare. We couldn't even walk across the drive to the Sandbar for a while and be let back in, even though it's part of the Divot's property. Sad to miss Rick Springfield because we didn't want to remain there all evening. However, this place does what it wishes, as there are no other venues in the Norfolk area. Maybe that will change soon if some of the bigger players in town start taking their holiday party and conference business elsewhere....
Read moreOne staff (Lynn) was particularly rude to me when I DJ'd for a wedding party that I am sure paid handsomely for their venue. Someone flicked the lights on and off and Ms. Lynn, in a snappy tone told me, the DJ, "that is ENOUGH with the lights". I did not even know where the light switch was. The "sound system" Divots tried to rent to the bride and groom sounded worse than a cheap walkie talkie. It also seems ludacris that the dance was shut off at 12 pm considering the price the wedding party paid for the venue. In fact, Ms. Lynnie scolded me, the DJ, saying, "It's 12:01. This is the last song!" while shaking her finger at me like I was a naughty child.
I expect MUCH more courtesy and accommodations for close to $8,000 a...
Read moreAttended the Kenny Rogers concert last night (12-3), and the concert was great BUT, the facilities were terrible mainly the seating . Obviously you oversold for the amount if seating that was available, having to put out chairs to accommodate people that had no where to sit. Right before that the announcer came over and told people in the bleachers to scootch together to make more room!!! What??? How to you sell seats based on bleacher space??? Not every body's rear ends are the same size, so how's that gonna work out. We had to sit in the bottom row of the bleachers making it very hard to see not to mention being VERY uncomfortable . I will definitely have to think real hard about attending such a concert in the...
