Honestly the worst gym experience I have ever had. As others have stated they make it impossible to cancel so I had to take action to prevent them from taking money from me. On top of their ridiculous and impossible cancelation policy they were talking more than 30$ extra out each month! Seriously watch your accounts they will cheat you! The gym isn't that clean. I have seen a number of people use machine after machine without cleaning behind them nothing is done about it even when staff is informed. The staff are a bit rude a few of the girls are very helpful and kind but, the rest unfortunately have a bad attitude. There is one guy that will put max time on the tanning bed no matter what amount of time you ask for so stay safe and aware if you use those . I got very sick after one morning when I was there they finally decided to clean the dust bunnies from the ceiling. Right above me while I was using equipment! The massive dust bunnies that fell on my head while working out were discussing and the employee gave no cares to people being in his way. I had to stop my work out and take a shower because it set off my allergies so bad I almost went into an asthma attack.i mean really I could go on the locker rooms were dirty a lot the price they change is ridiculously over price for the extrem lack of amenities they offer. I'm sure I will get some rude comment back from them as others have honestly the fact that they only responded to bad reviews and it is usually rude and unprofessional says a lot on it's own. By the way being a locally owned business doesn't give you the right to rip people off. Don't let them full you they also have a large number of apartment complexes in Norman they aren't a small business. Seriously save yourself headache and find a different gym there are plenty around Norman with WAY better prices and they offer WAY more for a lot less and actually have a very clean facility. Honestly steel fitness is the nastiest gym I have ever been due to it because I have chronic health problems that lower my immune system I was literally sick the entire time I had a membership. Not just the best gym in Norman! The best gym I personally have ever been inside anywhere. I have not been there in about three years. They definitely have some new equipment. I was in town for about a week and enjoyed working out there. The staff there is super friendly and helpful. If they’re not helping customers they are cleaning. The gym always smells good. There are people at the gym that are on different levels of exercise and fitness. Everyone I have met at the gym has been friendly. There is a free weight room where a lot of weight is being pushed around. But even in there most of the people are nice. But don’t be afraid to go in there, even though there are some pretty strong people in there working out. When I lived in norman, I worked out there 5 to 6 days a week for several years. I never found anyone that wasn’t willing to help or answer some questions. As long as you were serious about working out. The main gym has an enormous amount of aerobic equipment and quite a few machines. There is a very large exercise room with a weight sled. on the 24 hour side there is about everything you would need. Dumbbells in every workout area. The bathrooms are very clean and neat. I have never taken a shower there, so I cannot say as to how the showers work but the area is always clean. I have never use the tanning, so I cannot comment on the tanning area. Most importantly, the gym speaks for itself just go take a tour, bring your workout clothes and spend some time there. You won’t be disappointed. Been going to Steel since August, but cancelled my membership today. When I signed, I was told that my videoing would be allowed and made sure to never catch anyone in the film. Today, I was told that “several complaints” were given about my camera today and the past couple days (I was out of town prior to this for over a week) I was practically alone in the room and the manager asked me to remove the camera. Of course I stopped filming, and then notified her I would be cancelling immediately as vlogging is a BIG deal for me. I have people who watch and learn from my videos and my membership was reliant upon the fact that I could videotape. The weirdest thing about the entire experience is that apparently a camera phone is allowed to record, but not a small go pro. Also, apparently the gym has social media issues due to the fact that some grumpy members complain (once again when they aren’t even in the shot). The manager said that people had recorded before and it was no big deal, but that she had to cater to the few that did not like a camera in the vicinity; even if they are not on tape. If you are an upcoming fitness sponsor or vlogger, BEWARE. I recommend going to Gold’s (which I signed a membership on today - $20 a month) which is cheaper and has friendlier staff. The Gold’s manager is extremely kind and welcoming. She walked me throughout the gym and was even kind enough to hear me through the questions I have to ask now that I am a vlogger.
