We used to regularly shop at a competing grocery store, but recently switched to Weis after some bad deli food from that "other" company.
This Weis store often has items that are out of stock everywhere else, like pet food, Turkey Hill iced tea (why is it so hard to find this??), and simple things like snacks or French Fries. Their bakery foods are delicious, and somehow Weis fresh bread always tastes better than other grocery stores (and saves me time from baking it myself).
Most of the staff are friendly, but there have been a few who really do not belong in any form of retail. They do have at least one woman in the deli who needs to learn how to treat her co-workers/employees. I don't mind waiting when there is a line -- I've worked retail, including a Weis and a Rutter's deli, so I know it's easy to feel overwhelmed when there is a line of people waiting. But to berate an employee for taking a bathroom break? I promptly left and got my deli meats at a competitor. We've never had this problem with the deli employees on the weekends.
I love that this store has conveyor belts at some of the self-checkout lines because I prefer self-checkout. However, sometimes their machines are temperamental, which makes the process frustrating. The new option to scan produce never works, so that's a waste of time. Sometimes I would prefer regular checkout, but they usually only have one open with a line. I contacted the store and they gave me run around and said the manager would call me and he never returned my calls. He’s worthless I guess he didn’t have the decency to return my calls. I got scammed I guess… they should check the footage on their cameras I bet it shows the cashier did something malicious. This has been a huge pain in the a** for me. Read moreThe store itself was excellent. The produce always looks fantastic and the bakery section always gets us into trouble lol. The staff could be better, big time. We used the self checkout because we only had a few items. The self checkout was such a pain! Well as I was scanning, one of the items didn't scan properly and I was taking the item to rescan it and a worker yells loudly for everyone to hear "that item didn't scan you have to rescan it" making me super uncomfortable. I was 2 seconds away from just leaving it all there. Like come on, you see I'm taking it back to rescan do you have to yell in front of everyone? I won't be going back there for a long time. I don't care how nice the store is, when you have jerk employees, get them trained right to stop driving...
