This is the second diner/restuarant I have been to since moving to Lebanon PA from NYC 2 and a half years ago that is extremely racist. I am a diner junkie, I have had breakfast every weekend at multiple diners when I lived in NYC for over 25 years. Upon entering I had to wait to be served, immediately everyone stopped eating and stared at me as if to say what the hell this n**r is doing here. Mind you I went in to get take out and waited 10 minutes to place a take out order. It's like the people who where all white have never seen someone like me. An African American women without a weave or extension, with my natural long black hair. The cashier was so nervous she ask me how was the food (that she just handed to me which I haven't yet tasted). I smiled at her and wish her a good day and waited for my husband to pick me up, while waiting outside this elderly white man came up to me and ask me point blank "if I was from this country (USA). I said yes, he then said I mean where are you originally from I told him NYC. Then he started speaking to me in very bad Spanish, habla english? At this point I said to him I answered you in proper English when you,(he) didn't even spoke it himself I believe he was speaking broken dutch. He left I proceeded to the cashier who was an elderly white lady and I ask her if racism is tolerated and encouraged at the establishment, she didn't have an answer which led me to believe I wasn't the first person of color this has happened too. I proceeded to wait outside for my husband which felt like eternity when I was approached by a middle age white couple who asked me again where was I from I again said I was born in the USA originally NYC, specifically Queens NY, I am black, to that they said to me " but you don't look black". I was about to drop some knowledge on them, lucky for them my husband came to get me. Suffice to say I will never go...
Read moreJust went here with my friends before a conference nearby. All i need to say is the service and food was HORRENDOUS! First when we came in there was a moldy and it smelled like wet rags had been sitting around in a bucket somewhere. Once we were sat the waitress brought us our drinks then said a different server would be over to take our orders. As we waited we overheard a LOUD conversation between another customer and a server talking about how “nobody wants to work anymore” and she “can’t wait to not work” the next day. After that conversation she proceeded to go to the kitchen and yell “okay who’s turn is it?” In a very rude and condescending tone. Finally the same server who sat us came out and took our order after we considered leaving. I ordered the potato skin appetizer and was appalled by what i was served. The potatoes were hard, definitely overcooked, no potato left in the skin and absolutely smothered in a disgusting cheese sauce (probably about half to 3/4 of a can)
Overall this was the worst diner experience i have ever had and i do...
Read moreWe recently visited Cedar Grill, which is located on a main avenue and offers a large parking lot and a spacious interior. The service was excellent—our server was an older woman, but she was very quick, attentive, and friendly. However, the restaurant itself feels outdated and could really use some renovations. The cleanliness left something to be desired as well. As for the food, it was underwhelming. My husband ordered a basic breakfast of eggs and pancakes, which was just average. I, however, ordered a New York steak, and it was a disappointment. The meat was served cold and lacked flavor, which was surprising for a place that has “grill” in its name. I had asked for it medium, but it wasn’t cooked properly and tasted bland.
Overall, the friendly service couldn’t make up for the poor quality of the food and the outdated atmosphere. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for...
