The Well has inconsistent and confusing aquatics policies that have made my family no longer enjoy using the facility.
We were excited to use the pool with our kids (ages 5 and 8). During our first few visits, I was told I needed to remain within armâs length of both children while using the shallow poolâeven though my 8-year-old has a wristband (sometimes they put one on him, sometimes they don't) indicating he passed the swim test. A few weeks later, staff informed us the policy had changed and both children could use the shallow end without a parent in the water. We were so happy! The kids could actually swim and I did not have to follow them around like toddlers, constantly getting whistled at when they would get a few feet away from me. However, during our most recent visit, we were told the rules had changed yet again and that I once more needed to stay within armâs length. Iâm unable to work on teaching my youngest to swim because the rules require me to stay so close that he doesnât have the space to fully practice his strokes.
We asked front desk staff to show us the written policy to help us understand, but they were unable to locate it. The rules seem to be unclear to staff as well.
The most frustrating part of this is weâve been Hilliard pool members for years and have never encountered such inconsistency or confusion regarding supervision or swimming ability. The kids have been able to swim in the shallow end at the East Pool and HFAC independently since they were little. Why don't The Wellâs aquatics policies to align more closely with those of neighboring community centers or even their OWN outdoor aquatic facilities? It's all very odd.
Also, some of the lifeguard staff tend to be rude and demanding. It's hard to enjoy yourself.
If you are joining for your kids to swim, I recommend considering the rules situation and weighing whether or not you want to get in the pool with them each time and remain within...
Read moreA community center like this has been a long time coming in Hilliard. Growing up here, the old community center was wellâŚlacking a lot.
The Well has knocked it out of the park. A beautiful facility with a lot to offer. Weight room, basketball gym, indoor walking track, two pools, pool kids play area, community space, a cafe, work space and more.
Back in Hilliard visiting family for the weekend and figured I would check out The Well for my workout this morning.
I was greeted by friendly staff at the front desk who helped me sign up for a guest pass. This process took about 10 minutes, as the woman I worked with hadnât yet signed someone up for a guest pass. I think this is fair to expect seeing as 1) The Well has only been open a few months and 2) the majority of out of town guests looking for a place to workout would probably choose a big box gym like Planet Fitness or Crunch as opposed to a local community center. The day pass for an out of town resident was a little pricey in my opinion ($20), but I am not sure how this stacks up against other gyms.
Another staff member gave me a thorough tour of the space and the facility is truly incredible.
If I was still a Hilliard resident, this would be where I work out. Looking at the rates for residents, you get so much for your money. A+
As more time passes, I strongly believe, the staff here will work through some of the kinks mentioned in other reviews.

Read moreI am so frustrated. We bought a membership and itâs been gradually going downhill. Four times now I have come to the Well to swim and I have been told the pool is closed or closing earlier than listed on the website. They decide to close the pool from 430-630 all weekdays for an âeventâ. You clearly had this planned ahead so go ahead and inform members online. and on a Friday evening when I try to take my kids and their friends, the pool closes at 745 instead of the listed 9pm. So I have to leave with disappointed kids and friends. This is ridiculous. And why is the hot tub closed if they have swim lessons. Itâs ridiculous I pay this money and canât go use the facilities during the posted hours online. And when I ask the front desk if it was listed on the website they have no idea. INFORM US OF SCHEDULE CHANGES ITS THAT EASY. Iâm so disappointed in this facility and...
