I have been a loyal customer of the Harwood Heights Butera location for over 30 years, consistently spending significant money at your stores and appreciating the quality of products and services. However, my recent experience at the deli department was deeply disappointing and left me feeling disrespected and appalled.
I was assisted by a deli employee named Lori, whose behavior was completely unacceptable. She was loud, aggressive, and dismissive. When I asked for my elderly mother's order, she yelled across the counter, "MA'AM, IS THIS GOOD?" while holding up slices of roast beef, pastrami, and cheese. To add insult to injury, after bagging the items, she threw them at me on the counter.
When I inquired about a price listed in an advertisement, Lori yelled at me and told me to call corporate, as she was not responsible for the pricing. She also turned her back on me multiple times, ignoring my attempts to communicate. When I asked for her name to escalate the issue, she refused to provide it. I later spoke with a manager, who shared Lori's personal health information, which I found inappropriate and irrelevant to the situation. Regardless of her medical status, her behavior was unprofessional, and it is the store's responsibility to ensure all employees uphold a professional standard.
Another customer who witnessed the incident informed me that Lori’s behavior is a recurring issue, which raises concerns about the lack of accountability within the deli department.
I am seeking a follow-up to understand why such behavior is tolerated and what measures will be taken to ensure that future incidents of this nature are avoided. As a long-time customer, I expect a prompt and satisfactory resolution to...
Read moreShopping for bargains is a part of everyday life these days so when you see a sale on something that you like and are running low on, you want to grab that deal.
I try to order my food supplies via either Jewel or Instacart. Instacart has several stores that it has an affiliate relationship with. Jewel is a stand alone company.
I saw a sale at Jewel that I couldn't pass up. It was coffee for only 5.99. That's about 1/2 price of what it normally is so yes, order me 2 please.
When the order was delivered 5 things were missing and coffee was one of the missing items.
Although I felt bad about it I figured I still had enough to last a while.
Past experience dictates that coffee goes on sale at this time of year at many stores.
After having lunch with a friend we decided to stop at Buteras for some buns. That was another item missing from the delivery.
As luck would have it, the coffee was priced at 9.99. At least that's what the sign said. We passed it up.
After we got to the car we noticed in the lower right corner of their sale paper an ad that priced coffee at 4.99. It was the same brand Jewel had on able but didn't have available.
So in we go to the service desk to inquire. Yes, the lady said, it's 4.99. We asked if someone could get two cans for us. Sometimes it helps when people realize you're handicapped and walking around with a cane. They gladly sent someone to get the coffee and then even helped further by checking us out at the desk.
So it's a thumbs up for Butera and their staff for being so helpful. I'd recommend going there the first chance you...
Read moreThis place needs major improvement. The worst store on the Northwest side of Chicago. No one ever knows what they're doing in this store. I ask a simple question: when do these bagels expire? It's not rocket science. They had a big meeting about it with 5 different employees. No one knew the answer. So the young woman at the customer service desk named Margaret said I don't know. Can I have the item for free since no one knows this very perplexing and difficult question? "Without the approval of the manager I can't do that." The item cost $2.50. I know for a fact the customer service desk clerk does have the authority to do this. Mr. Butera, pay people more money and train them to put out items with expiration dates. It is illegal to not have an expiration date on an American product. What if I get sick? Should I then sue your ass? I can purchase better quality stuff at Costco. I have asked these questions and there's no way I would leave the store without an answer or it would be free. This store should...
