Annie's Hallmark Shop — Local services in Oakland

The store is kept well and organized. The issue is the service. Me and my friend were trying out and testing the markers for school , and when my friend took the cap off a sharpie it appeared to be broken, she put it back and we kept testing markers. After I tested out a marker below where they keep them, where there was a bunch of other writing from other markers so I assumed it was okay. Then we were approached by a male worker there who proceeded to tell us “that there are cameras, and he had been following us on the cameras, and saw that I wrote on the front of the markers” I was caught off guard and confused, because there was already so much more writing on the front, he also said that my friend had to buy the marker that was already broken. He was very stern and took a very rude tone. I get being frustrated but I don’t understand why he would get mad if there was other writing on the front, and if he was following us on the camera he should’ve seen that the marker was broken and why he made two teenage girls pay for it I don’t understand. However the women who checked us out...

Decent selection, well-established, lacking the sense to post their hours conspicuously. So I ask when do you close, the answer comes back, and, since I couldn't make it by closing, I ask when they open. By then the person on the other end was gone without a word.

One of the few remaining Hallmark stores left to choose from there variety of collections although I would like to see their Afrocentric items increase but I still give credit to this throwback store carrying a variety of personal items to be given...
