A friend recommended this facililty to me as a place to go after hours when in need of care (she has Medi-Cal and I have a PPO).Let me just say I regret coming here! I was billed $800 for a VERY mediocre visit. Breakdown: $300 MD consult fee, $150 for nasal flu test, $350 FOR FACILITY FEE!!! I have spoken to a Rady's biller, my insurance biller, and have researched this BOGUS fee and yes, it is permissible for "hospital affiiliated facilities" to charge these OUTRAGEOUS fees. Unless you have an HMO or Medi-Cal or some plan where you know that your visit is covered, I highly recommend going elsewhere. I am appalled that a "do good" organization like Rady's takes advantage of families just because they can. I have done some research and have found that there have been other states with class actions against hospital-affiliated facilities for charging these bogus fees. This is NOT right and totally unethical. I thought Rady's did good for its communities but now every time I see a Rady's sign, I feel disgust. How dare they. I was very OK with paying the enormous $300 MD fee and the overpriced $150 flu swab fee, but $350 "just because they can" is downright wrong. Shame on them. I will do my part and share my experience with the many other parents I know in SD. Go...

My wife and I brought our daughter here for regular checkups when she was an infant. We have good insurance with a low deductible that we paid on time every time. Much to our surprise we received a bill for late payment. I made contact with the hospital in order to determine what we hadn't paid. They explained that it was a billing error, that we had paid in full and that our account would be adjusted accordingly. I figured the issue was put to bed, until we received ANOTHER notice. Again, I called them asking what the deal was. Again I got the whole "Our fault, your account will be updated." Now I received a letter from a collections agency telling me that my credit is going to be negatively hit if I don't pay them. Well I am not going to let my credit take a hit for $46. I am just going to pay it since Rady has me over a barrel.
Congratulations, Rady Children's hospital. You got your undeserved $46, and a bad review and my negative endorsement to every person I know who...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTry to avoid this place if you can. Know that they don't do any tests and all you're doing there is waiting for hours to get some Motrin and a bill for $500. Took our 1yo because he had been fuzzy all day & with on/off fevers. Even though my son was crying and with a 102 temp in the waiting room, they'd take back everyone who arrived after us. Was given an appointment for 8:15 and got into a room at 9 pm, only to wait until 945 for the Nurse Practitioner who gave off the vibe she did not want to be there and was visibly annoyed at my crying infant. They gave my son Motrin, a Gatorade and no concrete diagnosis and what he had. I knew something was not okay with him so took him to his regular medical office the next day & he was diagnosed with an ear infection. They are quick to send you that ridiculous bill but the service here is horrible. I will say our RN was great and she showed...
