5 Wives Vodka, Potato is Excellent. Bar is a great venue. Service??? Overcharged 50% on a non alcoholic drink. Normally an issue resolved. However, the setup they have created is a problem. I was told the total of the bill rather than presented with a bill or shown a bill. The amount was 35% more than what the bill should have been. I asked why it was so high and after some muttering I was told it must include the tip. (I intended to tip in cash so on the machine I declined the tip) The three options for tips were roughly: 35% (to start), 40%, 50%. The process is to tell you the amount and hand you a small machine to approve it all. No printout or breakdown of the bill is presented. I imagine this process is so inebriated patrons overtip. Once the process is complete (at this point) a receipt/breakdown can be requested to be printed. Hence, we did not know the bartender overcharged us 50% on the non alcoholic drink prior to paying. More than likely this setup of the tip percentages was done by the bartender without knowledge of the owners. I reached out hoping to explain to the founder because more than likely other nefarious actions are taking place the owners should be investigating. I never heard back. (Linkedin) I bought more vodka at the state liquor store, but I will not be returning...
Read moreI just had one of the most bizarre experiences at the distillery gift shop. I have never been in before and thought it would be a good spot to stop in and check out before dinner. I asked if they did tastings since the bar doesn’t open until 5pm. The gentlemen behind the counter said yes and told me to look around and tell him what I wanted to try. I asked what his favorites were and he reiterated that I should just look around and tell him. I told him I wanted to try the rye and herbal liqueur. Another individual walked in and grabbed something quickly and wanted to check out. The cashier told me he would check that individual out first, which frankly didn’t bother me. While waiting for the other individual to get checked out, the cashier then told me that they don’t do tastings in the last hour that they are open. Frankly if that’s their policy that’s totally fine with me. The attitude and demeanor with which I and my family were treated was bizarre and rude. It is how I was treated that was rude, not the policies. I had hoped to grab some products to take home but after the way we were communicated with it felt natural to just leave. I also have heard great things about the bar, I won’t be...
Read moreOgden original business thriving through ingenuity, originality and hard work. Care goes into making these fine spirits and you can taste the quality. There are quite a few little distilleries now which is cool, but frankly their products aren’t very good. Ogden’s own is markedly different and that’s why their my staples in my liquor cabinet.
Tim Smith(founder) is a true visionary and great human. So glad this company continues to thrive and be an asset to Ogden. In addition to making great libations they give back to community and support local arts and music. Cheers to you and your staff with many more years of great products and supporting the local community.
I brought it on my GC trip for my east coast friends and it was a hit. Maybe a little too much...
