Elite Smiles — Local services in Oklahoma City

After my first appointment/cleaning at Elite Smiles I was honestly quite hesitant- when Dr. Sanor came in she did not introduce herself or talk to me much at all. She sat down, looked in my mouth and confirmed that I had 12 cavities, that was about it. I definitely have problems with my teeth and a cavity here or there is pretty normal, but this was quite alarming to me especially since my last dentist in Tulsa had seen me just a year prior with no indication of these problems. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try again, so I went back for two periodontal cleanings and had a very pleasant experience with my hygienist who I dealt exclusively with for both of those appointments. I also want to say that the receptionist is wonderful and very helpful about mapping out your payment plan and gathering information from insurance providers, so that was awesome to. Today I went back for my 4th visit to begin working on my cavities. Once again, the doctor communicated with me very little and didn't introduce herself (actually, I'm only assuming she was Dr. Sanor- that's how little I know about the person I just paid to perform a medical task on me- which I think is unacceptable). I was able to get over that but the entire duration of my procedure she and the other woman helping talked the entire time, mostly gossip too. When the Dr instructed me to do something I had a hard time determining instructions for me in the middle of their non-stop conversation and at one point she snapped at me for not following the directions that I couldn't understand through her gossiping. She said some things that I, as a professional, would never say in front of a patient- I was shocked at the lack of tact and humility. My mouth was not numb enough at one point so I felt the pain of the extraction and was grateful that they were able to fix that for me but honestly I left in tears I was so taken back by the experience. My grandfather is a dentist and I have always had the best experiences with dentists so this was really an unusual situation for me. I'm sure I encountered them on an off moment but after 4 visits I unfortunately will not be going back there and will not allow my husband to switch to them, as we initially planned. On a last note, I'm also shocked by the responses to criticism here from the Dr/owner- there seems to be no detection of partnership or serving the patient/customer at all- no apology or ownership of an error. It was seeing those response that was the straw that broke the camels back as to my solidification that I will certainly not go there again nor recommend them to anyone. I am so afraid that if this can happen to us it can happen to anyone, BEWARE!!!!My partner of almost 4 years was served with court papers on a dentist bill from Elite Smiles OKC Dr Sanor from 3 years ago that we never knew existed, , we have always paid all our bills upfront with them, so I thought this was just a huge mistake, when I contacted ELITE SMILES they said they underestimated what her insurance would pay and the bill was now 277.00 more, they said they had tried to contact her and letters where never returned (guessing an old address, but my son and I have been in many times in the past 3 years, he had just finished very extensive and expensive treatments, plus all 3 of us are on her facebook profile and nothing was ever mentioned tho fb has been used to contact me several times for other issues) they sent this bill to collections/attorney and served her with court looking papers on a Friday when I contacted Elite first thing Monday I was instructed to contacted the number on the bottom of the served papers, and we had to make arrangements with the agency or go to court I contacted the collection agency who was beyond rude, and treated horribly,was told see you in court and hung up on, never getting any thing accomplished or questions answered, I called back to Elite to try to end this nightmare and made payment arrangements for the other company, when I asked how much is the actual bill I was told to ask for statement when sending payment, I put a note in with the 1st and 2nd payments asking for a receipt statement and balance, and they only sent a statement saying we now owe 467.00 but not telling us why…. As of today 09/12/2012 and after many request we still have not received an itemized statement from either place and have not been able to get to the bottom of this,I do not believe this is fair or legal, we agreed to the 80.00 that we paid upfront at the time of services 3 years ago and to our knowledge was paid in full, we feel like she was not given the option of care that her insurance provided and would cover, this bill has almost doubled and we have still have...

OK, I seldom write or read on-line reviews (because let's face it, often the reviews are wildly positive or negative and the truth lies somewhere in between). But after the quality of service I received at Elite Smiles Office I feel compelled to share my experience. My first impression of the facility was very positive, it is a newly built modern office that is clean (a "big deal" to me) and comfortable. The staff is very personable and made me feel relaxed. (Yes - I get nervous when I go to the dentist). Dr. Sanor examined me and explained in plain english what my treatment plan options were and the costs associated with them. What really struck me was that Dr. Sanor and her staff never made me feel like I was being rushed through an assembly line. I was given "wow" customer service and as a result felt like my dental health and outcomes were as important to them as they were to me! -Where the rubber meats the road- I have had several procedures done at Elite Smiles. The most extensive case being six porcelain veneers on the top row of my teeth. I was very nervous about the outcome because your teeth & smile play such a big role in how you look (I had some graying and cracking to my front teeth) and I had seen veneers done on friends and family members that quite frankly didn't look right or looked unnatural. Well to make a long story short the results were outstanding! I have so much more confidence in my smile now and the veneers have been better than I imagined. I look back at old photos of myself and think "wow, why did you wait so long to have this done". After each of my procedures the quality of care continued. Follow-up appointments were efficient and there were no surprises when the bill arrived.
