Safety Hazard in Sauna – Urgent Attention Needed I am writing to express my serious concern regarding a safety issue in the sauna following the recent renovations. The handle inside the sauna is made of metal, which becomes extremely hot during use. This is absolutely unsafe and poses a risk of burns to members. I have personally experienced burns to my hand multiple times when attempting to open the door, and I have brought this to management’s attention on several occasions. Unfortunately, the issue has been ignored, and no corrective action has been taken. This is not only a safety hazard but also a liability risk. I strongly urge you to replace the handle with a heat‑resistant, non‑metal material immediately. Member safety should be a top priority

I absolutely love the YMCA in Old Bridge! From the moment I signed up, everyone has been welcoming, and the atmosphere is laid-back and inviting. They have all the amenities and equipment you need to stay consistent with your workout routine. I highly recommend checking out their classes! Right now, I’m hooked on Arpita’s Spin classes every Tuesday and Thursday, and I look forward to them each week. I’m excited to try more classes in the future. The spa and sauna area can get crowded during peak hours, but if you're an early riser and hit the gym in the morning, it’s the perfect way to unwind after a workout or enjoy some recovery time. GET THE MEMBERSHIP, it’s totally worth it! :)

My son has had the best time at YMCA of Old Bridge for summer camp. Upon picking him up at the end of the 1st day, my son said "BEST DAY EVER!". He's looked forward to it every day since... they go swimming twice a day, do activities throughout the day, play and have weekly field trips- he truly enjoys all his time there, he loves his camp counselors, and all his new buddies.

Although the facility is very modern and clean for the most part, the customer service at this YMCA is ABYSMAL.

I have been a member for over a year. It has ALWAYS been an issue to register my child for summer camp there. Their process makes absolutely no sense. Here is what happened this year:

At the beginning of the summer I went to the facility to register for camp. I was told they were full, but to leave my name and number and someone would call me when space became available. Guess what? No one ever called. (The same thing happened last summer as well)

Mid-summer, I went to the facility to ask about registering my son for the last two weeks of the summer, because there would be a 2 week gap between the summer program I had put him in (East Brunswick Parks and Rec- fabulous program) and the start of school. Since I was going well in advance, i though there would be no issues. I was told that I had to come in the wednesday prior to the week I needed child care to register him, that I couldn't do it that far in advance. So, I waited.

The Wednesday prior to the week I needed care, I went to the facility AGAIN to register him for summer camp. I was ignored by a snotty woman at the front desk. After standing around, a younger girl came to my aid. After explaining what I needed, I got the SAME song and dance I always get. "Oh, the program is full, but leave your name and number and someone will call you". I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was directed to the woman who had ignored me and explained what I needed. Same story: You need to leave your name and number and someone will call you.

AT that point, I was frustrated and said I wanted to cancel my membership and get a refund for a credit I had (prior swim lessons that my son had taken, where the instructor didn't show up to class a bunch of times). I was told I could not get a refund. I walked out fuming.

THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. The Raritan YMCA, although not as 'state of the art' has an AMAZING summer program, and this is how easy it is to register: You go to the front desk, say which week you need care, pay, are given a receipt, DONE. And they are always friendly, polite, and happy to help. Raritan is farther for me than Old Bridge, but is BETTER in terms of customer service and summer camp registration. I dont understand what their problem is.

Some of the front desk staff is rude, another issue I had was with the lifeguards at the pool. I stayed in the pool area to watch my son while swimming and the two lifeguards there spent an entire hour flirting and talking to each other instead of watching the people in the pool. SO, "state of the art" is not always better.

I have seen how Old Bridge YMCA responds to complaints on their FB page so i'm just waiting for their defensive response to this review. I am going to register my kid for a class to use up my credit and then i am cancelling my membership. If I wanted to get this kind of customer service I might as well go to WOW and pay MUCH LESS than the $79 monthly I pay at Old...

Gym is very good for beginners and amateur but if you take weightlifting seriously it isn’t the best. only one bench press one squat rack and 3 adjustable benches so u spend a lot of time waiting for stuff. Other than that for people under 18 it is the cheapest gym in jersey. u get a pool sauna hot tub and basketball court for only 25. will say they get very annoying with the ā€œslamming weightsā€ and the ā€œno wearing crocsā€ rules which make no sense it’s a gym your going to hear weights being put down. I’m not going to put down 400 pounds on a deadlift quietly. also the no crocs rule is stupid you’re supposed to take your shoes off anyway when u are deadlifting and squatting. the community is amazing and welcoming. It’s a no judge environment and people even help u improve your form. It’s like a small family. I would give 5 starts if they didn’t have those annoying rules and if they were open for longer on weekends. Other then that it’s the cheapest gym in oldbridge and amazing...

The Old Bridge Family YMCA, located at 1 Mannino Park Drive in Old Bridge, NJ, has been serving the community since 2009. Members appreciate its friendly staff and clean facilities. One member noted, "I love this YMCA! They have friendly staff and a clean facility. I have 2 children so I appreciate the family locker room." MapQuest

However, some members have expressed concerns about etiquette in certain areas. One review mentioned, "I love the Y & their staff. Can't say enough good things about the facility. However - the poor etiquette by people in the sauna/steam room is frustrating.

Overall, the Old Bridge Family YMCA is recognized for its welcoming environment, comprehensive programs, and commitment to...
