Bagel Boy — Restaurant in Old Bridge Township

A few weeks ago I came to the Old Bridge store to pick up an order that I had placed. It turned out that I placed the order with the wrong store.

I asked for the owner and Richie, who was visibly super busy and multi tasking, came out. He heard my predicament and took ownership of my issue. He reached out to the Brooklyn store, worked out an arrangement and completed my order at his store in 10 minutes.

This act of customer service brilliance speaks to this man’s humanity and empathy.

More recently, my wife came to the store and had the pleasure of being helped by Bridgette. Bridgette had no idea who my wife is. With a smile and the same care for her customers, Bridgette reaffirmed in her actions what I told my wife about this business and its management.

I just returned from Paris where I watched my son compete for the US at the Olympics. I told him the story and he agreed that such kindness should be called out and rewarded.

I hope my small gesture to both Richie and Bridgette expressed my gratitude for their acts of kindness. They make great food but the care for people and their empathy is what makes their food taste so much better than any other store around. Stellar human beings.

I try bagels with lox everywhere I go (NYC, NJ, Philly, et cetera). Out of all the places I have tried, Bagel Boy just has the best bagels with lox, hands down, and whenever I visit Old Bridge, I always look forward to a stop at the Bagel Boy. That alone earns them a 5-star rating from me.

Now, whether you like it or not, this place is definitely a slice out of New York. Come in, place your order, pay for your food, kindly get out of the way for the next customer and have a nice day. This isn't to say the staff here is rude; they are just, shall we say, purposeful. And I personally appreciate this no-nonsense attitude of theirs.

I understand some other reviewers have had less-than-pleasant experiences, or issues with inconsistencies in their orders. In the many, many times I have been here (over several years, no less), I have never once had an issue of any kind that I can recall.

Absolutely LOVE this place!! The food is always Fresh and the staff is always awesome. I have been going to Bagel Boy for years and they have always been so nice. They notice when you aren't there on your regular date and time (yes they even notice when I am running late to work!!!) This Staff is awesome and the Owner is just as great!!!! I eat the fresh salads and fruit daily and never have any problems with it. The muffins are always so moist and perfect, and the tuna is one of the best (i don't like to eat tuna that I don't make!) I have brought many others to Bagel Boy and they have the same reviews of the Create your own Salad bar--it is the best salad bar around! I have seen (and heard others complain about the line or the amount of time it takes to get an order- I wish people would relax- they have a line for a reason-IT'S GOOD! and the wait--well you just can't rush making FRESH FOOD!!!! The staff is always busy and always helpful.... I think the customers are way more rude than I have ever seen the staff!! Keep Up the GREAT WORK...
