I visited this passed weekend and I have never seen anything like this… I waited for 4 hours in the ER before I was seen. And when the nurse came in he put an IV in my left arm which was not necessary because I was there for a spider bite. He was extremely rough with the needle when I put it in and stabbed me and pressed on it as hard as he could. And he kept jerking it and pulling on it while it was in my arm it left a bruise thats covers half my forearm!!! Look at the pic!!! I will drive to Memphis or southaven if I ever need to go to an ER!!

Only giving one star because I have to, to be able to write this review!!!

We went to Methodist Olive Branch Hospital early this morning around 2am with my 4 year old son, due to severe abdominal pain on his right side. When we first arrived I walked into the ER entrance and didn't see anyone behind the counter. Turns out he was slouched down in a chair with his feet propped up that you couldn't even see him. Yes I understand it was 2 am but laid out at the front desk shouldn't be able to happen. Explained what was going on and was brought back. Explained to the ER nurse that checked us in what all was going on, severe abdominal pain on the right side, vomiting, blood in his vomit, fever. He then proceeds to do a covid, flu, and rsv test. I assuming its routine but he was having no other symptoms and was in a lot of pain and they were in no rush! He gets his vitals (or what I thought was him getting his vitals) and takes us back to a room. We sit and wait there for 15-20 minutes before a nurse even comes in to check on us. I ended up having to go out to the nurses station to notify her that he was still crying and in pain and needed to be checked on. She then says she is coming and we still don't see her for another few minutes. She comes in and says she is about to swab him for covid, rsv, and flu. I told her that had already been done and she said "oh no one told me and it wasn't in the system". ALSO DIDN'T EVEN PUT IN ALL OF HIS UPDATED VITALS INTO THE SYSTEM FOR THEM TO HAVE Finally a NP comes in and starts checking on him and he has settled down a little by then, as I am explaining everything that has been going on with my son throughout the day leading to this point she is rolling her eyes and not seeming to care what I have to say. I understood that it was 2 am in the morning and they have all probably been on night shift for a long time and are ready to call it quits for the day but it is also their job to help. After she checks his stomach, she then tells me she can order an x-ray, covid, rsv, and flu test (WHICH HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE), blood work, and urine test. I proceeded to say okay and for her to order whatever she felt she needed to get to the bottom of this issue, she then comes back with the response "But I don't want to have to do any of this to upset him" and stood there. I told her to do whatever she felt she needed to do to figure out what was wrong with my son. She then proceeded to try and tell me that my 4 year old could possibly be faking his pain and then compared it to her 8 year old child calling her while she was at school for another issue trying to get out of class. Told her I wanted to do an x-ray at least to just make sure she seemed aggravated about it and then walked out. After x-ray was finished we waited around 45 minutes for results (WHICH IS NORMAL, NOT BOTHERED BY THAT) she then comes in and says everything was normal on his X-ray except for a little bit of mucus in his chest. She checked his ear, nose, and throat, stated that his throat was severely red, and tonsils were swollen so she was just going to diagnosis him with strep (DIDN'T TEST BECAUSE SHE "DIDN'T WANT TO PUT HIM THROUGH THAT"). Sent in two prescriptions to the pharmacy an antibiotic and steroid (wasn't even the correct dosing) and told us to follow up with our pediatrician later this morning, well we just got home from our pediatrician, turns out he does not have strep (DID THE TEST!!!) and he has PNEUMONIA!!!! I fully understand that Methodist Olive Branch is not a children's hospital but it should know how to handle an situations that may be able to come up with children or what other measures they need to take to get the children the right care they may need!!!!!! We wouldn't even have gone there if we could have made it to Memphis, but we didn't want to chance something else bigger happening while we were on the road. We are 10 minutes or less from Methodist OB and 30 minutes from LeBonheur, Methodist Germantown, or...

This is the WORST hospital. I can say this from experience over the last year. Please read my review for methodist university hospital in Memphis. It will be the complete opposite of this review. I am knowledgeable and as a caregiver I try to educate myself as best as I can.

Do not visit this hospital, if you have a serious illness. They are not equipped emotionally or professionally. My husband has AML and we’ve unfortunately had to come to this hospital for many things. Staff here is extremely slow, incompetent, lack compassion, and share opinions that aren’t needed. They are sensitive when you speak to them directly, and they get offended when you share you ask questions that may challenge their opinion. The care is nothing short of LAZY! I hate to see the very few few good ones out shined by the bad. But they are! There is no urgency. When a patient’s hemoglobin is sitting at 5, prepare yourself to sit for 48 hours before they give a damn. When entering a neutropenic patients room they should be fully gowned, masked and gloved. When a patient is neutropenic, make sure you bring your own bottles of water- staff tried to give my husband ice chips. This is a big no no as he is extremely susceptible to bacteria and Infection. When I expressed my concern they laughed at me and said they don’t give patients bottles of water only ice chips. So they let my ailing husband sit there thirsty until I could bring him bottles. When your neutropenic you also have to avoid certain foods. They could care less. Literally, no effort. I believe it was floor 3 my husband stayed on. The charge nurse on this floor came in to do a flush on my husbands IV. She opened the packaging and took the cap off WITH HER MOUTH. And proceeded to place the flush she just took out of her mouth onto my husbands IV- who is neutropenic. We were in shock! When you are neutropenic a common cold could kill you. Why in the world would a charge nurse think it’s OK to put her mouth on any equipment for any patient? If you have a serious illness, do not visit this hospital they are not equipped to take care of you. I can’t imagine what it would be like for a person who doesn’t have a good support system or advocate fighting for them. Do not leave your loved ones here alone. These people will surely let them die or cause infection because they don’t know how to take care of someone facing a serious illnesses. I called patient advocacy about this care and they have not returned my calls. Most recently my husband was in a car accident, the ambulance took him to the ER here. It was the nearest hospital and he had just been hit by two 18 wheelers. His car accident was very bad, completely totaled his truck and he was lucky to be alive. Because my husband had just been on chemo three weeks ago and he would be more susceptible to bleeds(slow bleeds as well). We requested an MRI along with a CT. The ER Dr. refused to order an MRI. Considering that he is also recovering from chemotherapy and preparing for a stem cell transplant this would of brought us peace of mind. Instead of answering my question, she put her hands in my face, telling me “I was defensive” and how long she’d work there “11 years” But I’m not sure why that information was needed as I was asking her if a patient can request an MRI regardless of opinion? That wasn’t the answer to my question. She also suggested that my husband who was just hit by TWO 18 wheelers did not have a concussion because he didn’t blackout. One of his pupils was larger than the other. First, the pupils are a sign of a concussion. Secondly, you don’t always blackout when you get one. This is common sense knowledge. Do you see what I mean yet? Completely incompetent and get butthurt when challenged(asking questions). I will be calling patient advocacy again, and I will make sure that everyone I speak to knows this hospital staff is ill-equipped and...
