Adkins Heating and Air Conditioning — Local services in Oliver Springs

I have a 10 year old Mitsubishi mini split high wall ductless unit in a sunroom that has given trouble for 3 years. I had several Roane County HVAC companies attempt to correct its performance issues but none that truly understood what was required. I looked up the Mitsubishi diamond dealers and found Adkins in Oliver Springs. I called and John came in a day or so to evaluate and troubleshoot the issue. He used a leak detector in all the typical locations and only found one suspicious Schrader valve core. He gave me an estimate and scheduled a return date within 1 business day. John cleaned the indoor coil, recovered the refrigerant, changed the valve core, pressure tested the system looking again for leaks in suspicious locations, evacuated the system to 300 microns vacuum also indicating no leaks, then weighed in the nameplate amount of refrigerant. The unit has been maintaining the set point temp for a week. It hasn't performed this well in years. I feel I have found HVAC professionals I can trust. Thank you! Update: It has been a year since Adkins visit. We have had temps in the single digits and extended periods where the temps never were above freezing. Also conversely periods with high temps in the 90's and sometimes approaching the 100 degree mark. The unit has maintained set point temp for the entire period. I'm new to the area and needed to have my A/C and Heating system checked since this was a new house for me and although we had no issues since moving in, still ... winter was coming. I was given Adkins Heating and Air as a reference and I'm so glad I gave them a call. I called and the person that answered my call was well informed and I scheduled a maintenance service. James from Adkins showed up on time, we talked about what we needed and he went to work. Not long after he was done. He found an issue with one of the thermostats and fixed it. I ask him if he could reprogram the thermostats for me which he did in record time with no problems. James was friendly, knowledgeable, listened to our needs and explained everything so we could understand it. Adkins has my business from now on. My unit was not shutting off and not communicating with the thermostat, called Adkins and James Preti came out to evaluate. After some time he came and told me there was no issue with my unit, even though it is still running continuously, and suggested that I have HUB come out and make sure there is enough voltage coming to the house. HUB came out and said there was no issue. This forced me to get a second opinion and I called Pioneer. The guy that came out from Pioneer found the problem within 10 minutes and fixed the problem the same day! Overall, I would NOT recommend using Adkins, you will just be wasting your time and money like I did! They are not helpful and clearly not educated enough on how to identify and fix issues...
