Don't sleep on this location or get caught up on those who are upset that Genesis made innovations when it purchased the property.
I've been a huge fan of Genesis for years, and the leadership doesn't settle for subpar experiences. I've also been waiting to write this review until the entire project was done, but as it's nearing, I wanted to share.
As far as a gym goes, this is going to have everything you need or want. Multiple power racks, multiple benches, a massive wall of dumbbells, perhaps the world's largest cable crossover setup (don't call Guiness about it, just a guess) a running track, assault treadmills, assault bikes, a turf area, a cardio area, one amazing pool. Shoot, I haven't even touched the spots that aren't done—rooms for fitness classes, the basketball courts, etc.
The locker rooms are also going to be spectacular with custom combination locks, ample space to change, and in-locker room saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs.
I know this is a long review, and probably reads like someone who works for the company (spoilers: I don't.) I took the time to write this because I am excited for this spot, and I don't want the nay-sayers or those who are clinging to the old gym to distract you from joining. Genesis leadership is great, and this location is going to be a huge addition to the area.
EDIT: There is a difference between working out and training. I wanted to edit my review since having used a trainer. Cooper Todd is an amazing and experienced young man who knows his stuff. He didn't waste the hour with chatting, but filled it with needed training and useful tips and expertise. If you want to take your workout to another level, I'd recommend a trainer. If you want a trainer, I...
Read moreIt’s always a pleasure coming to this Genesis. Misty, Jason, Lindsey, Sydney, and Lynda are always friendly faces to greet me at the door! Lindsey has become a master shake artist. I’m always so grateful for the hard work they put in folding towels for us.
I really enjoy the water Zumba class with Gulya, she does an incredible job.
I grew up being made fun of because of the way my body looked. I was always so self conscious of my body which prevented me from wanting to do things to take care of it. Now I’ve given up on being self conscious and began to enjoy taking care of my body.
I have autism and a lot of childhood PTSD. I have operated a lawn service for many years. I used my business to stuff away all the pain of my communication issues and difficulty with PTSD.
It worked for a time but after so many years of overworking myself with my business, my excessive isolation with work has finally caught up to me. I’ve really been hoping for some way that I can be paid to take care of myself and my mental health now. Instead of needing to go back to my business to make money, which will most likely cause another “bipolar” episode. Don’t even get me started on that part.
The point is, I overworked myself because I have so much difficulty with social skills and communicating with people and fitting into society. I’ve greatly improved my social and communication skills but my business has become too lonely and too fast paced for me now.
Thanks for the kindness the staff at Genesis has shown me since I started coming. Kind people seem to be very difficult to find for...
Read moreThis is NOT a premium location. People have to pay more money to work out at this location? Don't know why. There's absolutely nothing premium or better about it. Bench Press benches, Squat racks don't even have enough collars for each one...or even half of them! Not safe!!! Don't have any 35lb plates on the bench press side of gym. They have 6 total flat and incline benches. 1 set of 35lb plates over on that side. No chalk over by squat racks. Maybe that's something this location has never provided. But one that really annoys me is there is NEVER any towels or even paper towels to wipe down any equipment. Dude just gets off equipment sweating his azz off and I got nothing to wipe it down with. That's eFFed up. This is the only location like this. So I have to ask the question. Why is this a premium tier location that you charge more for a membership and it has subpar quality to represent that "premium". It's a joke. Please take this review as insight on how to improve. PS your leg press machine is horrible. People don't want to use it because of the high angle, high foot planet needed and it's sketchy as hell trying to lock the safety back in. Please get a different one! This feedback is also coming from a coworker of mine who used to work at this location. That leg press machine is so horrible he told his gf not to ever use it because she almost injured herself trying to relock the safety in. 2 stars. Because all of the subpar things I mentioned above. The rest is great....
