Bought a 1-month pass to try it out in April. Never went back.
Hereās why:
One day I forgot to put a set of dumbbells away. My fault. Iād been there 8-10 times before, never did it once. Just forgot.
When I scanned in on my next visit, the girl at the front desk with a headband and glasses was EXTREMELY rude about it. There was a note in their system about me.
She scolded me like a teacher talking down to a student. She clearly doesnāt know how to handle uncomfortable confrontation. So she went over the top instead of having a calm conversation with a fellow adult. Very immature.
She never asked if it was one-time mistake or if I just forgot or anything. Just assumed the worst from the get go.
I apologized, owned it, and said it was a total mistake. Wouldnāt happen again & moved on.
Next visitā¦Iām reprimanded AGAIN for the previous mistake by the older gentleman up front this time!
He was nicer about it than the girl, but come on. This isnāt kindergarten. I apologized already. Said I would do better. Move on!
I asked if Iād have to answer for that every time I came in from now on. What a weird way to treat people!
Itās too bad because itās a very nice facility. I really liked it. But I prefer to feel welcomed at a gym and treated well when Iām there.
I never came back.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time visit to Pickleball open play in OBA rec center. Came in gym and said hello and explained this to coordinater who immediately scolded me for coming in āthe wrong doorā! Even though there we no do not enter signs posted Anywhere on the gym doors. She did no even greet me with a welcome!!
I said I needed to play and how did the rules work here and she just said āput your paddle down!!! ā. I had some friends already here I wanted to play with and she said āyou canāt!!ā Well thatās not correct because you can pull your paddle out of the rotation to suite your needs. There appeared to be Inconsistent rules for regulars and non regulars. The players were very helpful and nice.
OBA should get a better ambassador for this no 1 growing sport!!! Will Not be back !!! Will advise other pickleball players in my circle not to come to this venue when they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis municipal-operated facility has to be the best-equipped, clean & family-oriented in the state of AL to which I have been or utilized! The equipment is quite good, having often, multiple machines for diff muscle-groups, all being clean & well-maintained, including free-weights. The clientele here in Orange Beach, is second to none I've ever seen. Thankfully no loud rednecks or steroid-injecting muscle-heads! Only improvement might be for mgmnt to take time during day or evening, stroll around through facility, chatting w/ppl, getting info from clientele on their likes & dislikes. Although I will say, there's little to not like about a well-equipped, municipal-run, 24 hr (!) facility. Did I mention it costs for residents of O.B., a whopping $75/year?? Kudos to...
